After those, every year for some, every second year for others.

Where you live plays some importance as to what your dog should
be innoculated for - what does your vet say?

Should be a series of vaccinations (3) every four weeks at ages 6-8 weeks,
12 weeks and 16 weeks. Then Rabies at 4 months if required in your country.
As for non-rabies vax, every year thereafter or whatever your veterinarian's
protocol is. If Lepto is in your area (as it is here) a yearly booster is in
order. It's included in the "distemper" vaccination known as the DHLPP
(first one is without the lepto).

.......I can't think of anything worse than vaccinating a dog immediately
before or after surgery. To be effective a vaccination requires a response
from the immune system. Any surgery, minor or not, knocks the immune system
down for a while. It is not the optimum time for a vaccination.

Reading on vaccinations:

http://www.caberfeidh.com/Revax.htm

There's some links at the second site - read those too.
