I was looking out my front door, and saw the animal control truck(ASPCA?)
parked across the street outside a fence where i often heard a dog barking at people walking by(he also 'roofed' a racoon in that yard). I had never gotten a good look at the dog, because the fence was wooden slat-type which was difficult to see through. But I had heard from a neighbor that the people in that house were looking to get rid of that dog. I had basically forgotten about the dog, but now i saw this lady(of south american spanish type birth- people not notorious for being kind to animals) leading a black german shepherd looking mix out on a leash. The dog looked very happy, he was going for one of the few walks he ever got. He was immediately confronted with this jerkoff aspca guy with a noose on a pole, and the dog (fifty pounds) did an admirable job of putting the noose guy at bay, apparently being perceptive and and smart enough to realize the situation - one, that his keeper had betrayed him, two, that if the noose got over his head, he was done for. My stomach ached as i remembered once, long before, walking home from school and seeing a similar scene, only the dog in that case was a trusting old retriever, who merely looked confused as his keeper handed him over to a stranger and turned her back on him. I hope she died a long miserable death. Anyway, I went out to ask about where they were going to take the dog, as I was going to talk to my family about going and adopting it. My polite inquiry was met with a hostile reaction from the noose guy, the gist of it was, 'this dog is a vicious animal and is to be destroyed' and, I inferred, I was dangerously naive for even thinking about helping it. After some arguing, I convinced the spanish speaking lady living in the usa instead of her country where she was born and should have stayed- to let me take the dog, then and there. Over the noose guy's objections, she had an attack of conscience and gave me the leash(people were starting to watch this scene, it wasn't going to be quick and quiet as she had probably expected). The dog, allegedly vicious, never looked back, and walked off with me like he knew me his entire life. The boyfriend of the lady had just stated that i would not be able to get near the dog, agitated as he was. The spanish lady's kids were playing in the street in front of the house, fifty feet away, and they apparently couldn't care less if the dog that grew up in their house got dragged away to a cage and a violent death(this dog wasn't going to hold still for euthanizing- it was to be a fight, I am sure). I personally see no gain for the USA in the presence of these alien people, but i am not the one making the decisions, which is a good thing for many evil-doing type people. The Spanish speaking lady was also running an illegal hotel out of her house, but, I guess it's okay to immigrate to a new country and ignore their laws and customs. She also lied to the ASPCA to get them to come and get this dog, making a statement that the dog was a danger or threat to her children. Enough about her. When i got the dog home, he was ravenously hungry, and he had worms, and his coat was all tangled up. The very picture of a well cared for dog. Five years later, this dog is, and has been the best dog i have ever had. He is laying on the floor at my feet as i type this, and I believe he would protect his family with his life. He is also very, good, in fact simply without fault as far as his living in the house. He stays off the furniture, he gets along with the three cats we have, and he watches the property when no one is home. In fact, he bit my brother twice in the first six months, but he has managed to get himself forgiven because of his winning personality. Sometimes when I walk him, we see the guy who lives in the house where the dog lived, and the guy calls my dog by his name, but the dog looks at him as if he doesn't even know him. You can learn things from watching dogs. mike. |

You know too bad you didn't spend the time to read it. Even with lack of
proper spacing it was worth the read. Celeste "Shelly" wrote in message ... Mike,
Congratulations on getting your dog. I have always imagined intercepting an unwanted dog on the way to the pound, shelter, ASPCA, etc. I have never had the opportunity. I am glad it worked out well for you and your dog. Be Free.....Judy |

How can anyone expect people to read if they're not going to put in a few spaces? |
