elegy said in part.....
I hate to say it, but I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of sanctuary placement for these dogs.................. ______________________________ elegy, I basicly agree with you. I am grateful that the dogs were assessed individually, and that 16 were found suitable to go to foster care and that 2 were going to be trained to be law dogs. I am sorry for all of these dogs and the horrible lives they have had. I am grateful that they have been freed from the life of torture that they previously led, and now I think it is time to let them go. (euthanasia) There are too many pit bulls euthanized every day, many of them are young, healthy, and of good temperament and have never even had a chance at life. I think the time and money spent to keep the remaining Vick dogs alive and contained in sanctuaries could go so much further, saving pit bulls in shelters. I have never heard of other confiscated fighting dogs being temperament tested and placed in foster care or sanctuaries? Vick is still supposed to go to court on state charges in April of '08. this old gal, for example, makes me go all squishy. maybe it's the one-eye thing. http://badrap-blog.blogspot.com/2007/10/eye-see-you.html Or maybe it's that she's a red-nose Luce twin? More likely, it's the little spit bubbles, which are simultaneously disgusting and adorable. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |
