A mistake that went on over a year? Yeah, right! Like I said, that's so
sick!

Yep. I was in my early 20s. I was immature and had some other issues I
won't bore anyone with that made it very difficult for me to let go of
the one constant in my life, but it was truly a horrible thing to do to
any dog. Sick? No. Wrong? Absolutely.

Fortunately, some of us learn from our mistakes. I will always deeply
regret what I did with that one dog. But because of her, I have been much
wiser with all my other dogs who have come and gone, and each has enjoyed
as full a life as possible for as long as possible. When they have gotten
to a point where their quality of life is compromised I have let them go.
Allie taught me that. I'm sorry I had to learn it the hard way.

Well said. And I think Chard was wrong to be so judgmental and harsh about
a mistake that happened long ago and which you have acknowledged. But
sometimes people who feel that they are automatically criticized tend to
lash out. I have sometimes done that myself.

Thank you Paul for knowing how to give an opinion without the
accompanying flames so common here. We don't have to agree to be civil.
