There are SO MANY changes over the past 50 years in the environment
that pets (and we) live in, it's kind of silly to glom onto
"KIBBLE!!!!" as the sole cause for anything. [Yes, there's crap
kibble out there. And there's crap raw meat out there too. But let's
just blame the kibble, 'cause that's easy.]

Hey Furpy,

There was much more than just a blame presented here. Do you have no
knowledge of what "processed food" is? Lets go back to kindergarden
for those who can't comprehend. Kibble is made from ingredients that
are left over from human foods. Another word for it would be
"garbage". Many have ingredients from rendering plants in them as well.

Chard, your problem (well, one of them) is that you overgeneralize.

Your problem is you don't actually read for content.

There are many ways of making kibble, some of them despicable, others
presenting a nutritious diet. Now, I know that you are absolutely
certain that nothing can be nutritious if it's not raw. Shrug

Nutritious kibble? Nope. All kibble is over processed. That means it is
cooked so long they have to add nutrients back in because there isn't
much left. Please research "processed food". It's bad for pets and
humans both. Why not just leave the nutrients in the food when you feed
it? I personally try to stay away from processed foods for myself as
well as my pets. I cook from scratch as much as possible, eat raw a lot
and stay away from things like instant mashed potatoes and those meals
in a bag that have about 100 ingredients in there. And all kibble has
fillers of some kind that don't add nutritionally to a dog's health. The
cheap ones use corn, the expensive ones use sweet potatoes or rice. And
those preservatives are dangerous as well. A few are documented to cause
cancer.

I'm curious, though - where do you get the raw food that you feed your
animals? And would you prevent your dog or cat from eating a whole mouse?

FurPaw

Actually a mouse would be scientifically and nutritionally the best food
possible for cats. Many people buy them frozen or ground and feed them
to their cats. I haven't done that yet but I will.

Where do I get my raw food? From many places. There is a co-op here that
orders once a month or so from this site.

Most of what they sell is ground though and I prefer to have it in a
more natural state. I was primarily using them for tripe but now I have
another source....

I also buy from Raw4Pets which is all human grade meats and local to me.
She has green tripe in chunks which is probably the best food for dogs
on the planet. She also gets grass fed no antibiotics no hormone meat
from various sources too.

Then there are the hispanic and oriental area markets that carry meat
that isn't pumped full of water, salt and sugar. And finally there are a
few wholesalers that will sell to the public by the case. I buy chicken
necks and beef heart that way.

There is also a Tampa group for raw feeders that will post sales on meat
in the area markets.
