TD asked if I would post some photos of Devon. I don't have any real good
photos of her, but I had a few on my computer and decided to post them.
There are also two of Susie and one of the wild turkey who has adopted us.
I hope the link works.
They look best if viewed on slideshow.

Those are great photos! Devon is beautiful and I like the turkey too. You
live in beautiful country, those trees look ghostly and mysterious to me,
always a source of wonder.

Devon is a lovely girl. I've got a huge soft spot for Rotties, so it
was nice to see photos of her and Susie. Thanks for sharing them!

And those woods are gorgeous. Not at all like what we have here.

Agreed on all counts. It's nice to see woods that aren't filled with
non-native invasives and all sorts of noxious plants.

Thanks for posting the photo's! Devon is beautiful, as is Susie. And the
scenery is gorgeous too. Where abouts do you live? I love those first
couple pictures with the tall trees lining the road/path. Devon is a
wonderful girl. I think I'd like her too. I appreciate you posting the
photo's. It's so much easier to get a feel for ones dogs when we can see
photo's of them.

best,

td

That's funny that you say they are great photos, because I never wanted to
post my photos; never thought they were good enough.
The turkey is unbelievable; that turkey has been in my driveway and front
lawn for months. One time it hurt its foot and I called the Animal Rescue
League of Boston and they sent someone out to look it over. They said that
it wasn't hurt badly enough and that it looked like it would be ok, and that
it was illegal to remove the wild turkey unless it was injured. If it were
badly injured he would have taken it and tried to fix it up and then release
it to the wild; if not he would have had it put down. Anyway the turkey is
doing fine again and stopping all the traffic in front of my house. He
stands right in the middle of the road. If the cars slow down they get to
pass, but if they stop; that is the end. He will stand directly in front of
their car and then peck their wheels if the car moves. Everyone then starts
honking their horns, and there is a traffic jam. Sometimes I put Devon on
the leash and walk out there to get the turkey off the street and to allow
the traffic to move again. Devon doesn't try to do anything, but just looks
at it. But the turkey walks away from Devon and off the street.
The turkey seems to know when the rush hours are, because he only does that
early in the morning and late afternoon when everyone is going and returning
from work.

Thank you.
That is the town forest down the end of my street where I walk Devon every
day. It is covered with snow right now, but it really a beautiful site to
see her running up and down the small slopes and through the tall pines in
the snow. That is when Devon is truly the happiest. She just sulks all day
if she doesn't go to the forest. If I take her some place else to walk, she
still expects to go to the forest for her walk.

Heck, if I had such an open and pretty place to romp, I'd sulk, too,
if I couldn't go there! It really is lovely. It looks like a nice,
restful sort of place to walk.

Your Devon is a real sweetface boy! Susie though, she looked like
she had some serious clown attitude in her.

=============
Well, Susie, actually was a very serious dog. That photo of her with the
hat was taken by the MSPCA and the people at the MSPCA that took care of the
dogs loved Susie. They probably put the hat on her to soften her look and
to make her look less intimidating. They used to try to keep her
entertained with ball chasing and play, because she was there for so long.
At the time I adopted Susie, her time had run out.
A lot of people were frightened of Susie because she had that intense
Rottweiler look, but I loved that look. She would stare at anyone new and
look them over and decide whether she could trust them or not before she
made any moves. Susie was always thinking.
Devon and Susie are not alike in their personalities. Devon is an alpha as
well as Susie, but Devon is very social and seems to like all dogs, but
Susie was not very social and did not like all dogs.
