Right, but I'm wondering about the transient (or not) novice
dog owners - the folks who maybe buy books by people like
Bash Dibra or something, and know they want to train their
dogs but have no idea where to start. Maybe not quite so
internet-experienced that they've seen tons of these before
and figured out that this crap isn't on the up-and-up.
That would be interesting to know.
[Zorro update: the neurologists say that he's in critical
condition but expect that he'll eventually recover without
surgical intervention]
Recover as in walk again? That would be great.
I have learned so far that Obedience training is one of the best things you can do for your dog and yourself. Obedience training doesn't solve all behavior problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any problem. Training opens up a line of communication between you and your dog. Effective communication is necessary to instruct your dog about what you want her to do. You can teach her anything from 'stay' (don't bolt out the door) to 'sit' (don't jump) to 'off' (don't chew the furniture).
