Our guy Zack passed away this morning at the vet's. He'd been coughing last
week and when I took him in on Friday, the vet said it was Congestive Heart Failure. It really hit me but I had thought about this during the week. He was kept at the vet's to flush all the fluids out of his belly, and tho he was set to send him home this morning, he passed away, in our vet's arms. I got the call at 9:15. I guess his big old heart had finally come to rest. He had been terribly abused til two years old, by his former owner. The SPCA woman had picked him up, our vet in NJ had started a new file for him, stating that his old name had died after reaching them. They did this just in case his abuser won him back in court. Thank God, every day for this boy, who came to us around 35 pounds, at two. He's been around 75-80 pounds his while life, in great shape, not heavy at all. He'd been spoiled rotten ever since. ![]() It was actually our girl Boo, who really brought him out of his fearful shell. She'd let him drag her around the house by the neck, tucking her legs and tail in, smiling the whole time. He brought us so much love and affection. He also showed us that no matter what happens to us, we can all be loved back to health......at least from some things. He used to sit next to anyone on the couch and lean his head into our chest. If I said, "Oh he loves his whomever!", he'd push his head way into our body that no one could get up while he was leaning in on us. He literally pinned us to the couch to love us. ![]() He had an article written by my good friend Lois, about him when he was younger. He was the 'famous' one of the crew. It's just so hard after losing our Rudy less than a year ago, last April 6th, tough call on us all, God. You could have waited, but then we didn't want him to suffer a second more in this life. So we bid adieu to our 'Zackaroni', the 'special' boy, who may not have been the smartest, but he sure knew how to LOVE us. And we knew how to love him, with all our hearts. Mine is literally breaking right now. Sadly, Da Smiff Den, MaryBeth Ceilidh AKA Boo Sammy, almost-a-year-old new golden boy and the kitty klan, Hannah, Piper and Isabella PS If Lois, or anyone who knows her address, can get in touch with me, I'd appreciate it, I'd love to let her know what his life was like, after her tremendous help with him in the beginning......... marbeths AT cox Dot net....thanks. |

I will never, ever forget the story of Zack's Gilligan impersonation, stranded on an area rug "island."
