Well, you called it! Ok, not Cleveland explicity, but up in that area. Our
county ran it's final report at 9:19 - we are done and posted on our BOE website. Cleveland area had it's problems - court order that the polls stay open til 9:00 - I think, though, that some of it was weather related, as Dick Goddard just announced some 12,000 people are without power due to the ice. Hope you're staying warm. Of course, if you're without power, you won't see this... (duh) The ice on the trees is beautiful, though. I know it's not dog related, so to make it on topic...... Atty spent the day with Grandma, snacked all day, and hasn't gotten off the bed since she got home. She's stretched out with her head on the pillow. What a happy girl she is. Sue and Atty |

Hope you're staying warm. Of course, if you're without power, you won't see this... (duh) I know a large part of the area is without power. Primarily a little west of us. This has been a terrible storm. Trees and power lines down all over. So far, so good: thanks for thinking of us. The ice on the trees is beautiful, though. It's an amazing ice storm! I know it's not dog related, so to make it on topic...... Our dogs think we're punishing them by taking them outside. Beanie in particular. She hates any sort of inclement weather unless there are big, puffy snowflakes falling. |

We were out for an unknown period of time; the power came on a couple of hours ago. I had a meeting in Ashtabula at 7:15 pm, for which I was later than usual as I was coming from downtown Cleveland. That drive was even less fun than it normally isn't. I just went out to put de-icer on the porches - the stuff is still coming down! - and all you can hear is the snap, crackle and pop of ice in tree branches. Hopefully the branches will still be on the trees in the morning. Mustang Sally |

Well, I'm sure Atty and I will be up then - I just took her out, and she refused to potty - although she did chase an oppossum. Yippee. Now, my once happily snoring lab wants to PLAY - It's 11:39 - I want to SLEEP. I can almost guarantee a snow day tomorrow - I took a personal day, so that will guarantee no school. I see a number of Cleveland area schools are already closed. Geez, we'll be making up days in July at this rate. Sue and Atty |

But I didn't think about de-icer because the wind is still so strong. The noise really is eerie, isn't it? I suppose the ice does look beautiful on the trees, but I just worry the branches will come down and damage the fence. Not to mention all the other damage that's bound to result, actually already has occurred. I only put de-icer down because we still have one human to come home from work, and the front porch is awfully slick. As is the back porch, and though the dogs are pretty sure-footed, there's Robin the whippet who is not too steady these days, and Raisin the blind dachshund who has to be carried down the stairs in weather like this. The silly thing is that I put salt in the back and dog-safe de-icer in front, because Teddy the Bad! Puppy! would surely eat the dog-safe de-icer, and I don't think that's what the manufacturer means by dog-safe. Mustang Sally |
