Default [OT] - Growing up too fast

It has been a while since I posted updates on the family, so I thought I
would drop in an OT post to keep you guys up to date.

Sofia will be 5 months on Monday. 5. Months. Holy crap where has the time
gone?? Sheis a little over 15 lbs right now. Her eyes are still blue, and
she doesn't yet have enough hair for us to decide what colour it will be.
Sofia is a squirmy, happy little baby. Most nights she sleeps for 7+
hours, occasionally 9 hours in a row, which makes for happy, rested mommy
and daddy. The downside to that is that she doesn't sleep as much during
the day. Not much of a problem for me, but a little bit more for Gen. She
is growing in length as well. We are almost at the point where we have to
change the type of car seat we are using, from one of the baby ones, to
an actual car-seat.

She can sit up pretty good, although the whole balance thing eludes her
for the moment. She is at the chewing...err...gumming stage right now.
Everything she grabs gets brought to her mouth. Other than a little
problem with regurgitation (a lot more than normal) she is quite healthy.
One of the initial worries about the regurgitation was that it was CF,
but that was eliminated pretty quickly at the start. We are now working
our way through a line of specialists. It isn't urgent, as she is gaining
a lot of weight and is healthy. We have seen an ear/throat speacialist,
and he said that what he can see is fine, but has ordered an ultrasound
on her stomach/throat.

Sofia loves her sister, and is fascinated by Moogli. If they are around,
forget about getting her attention.

Emilie is also growing like a weed. She used to be able to feed herself,
but has backslid a little and prefers to play with her food more often
than not now. She is turning into a very beautiful little girl. Needs to
have a barrette or elastic in her hair. And she is obsessed with Disney
princesses. She is in her third session of gymnastics, and really enjoys
it. If anyone has the opportunity to enroll their kids in it, I highly
suggest it. She is so much more confident on her feet than other kids her
age that it is shocking sometimes.

She has figured out how to get into Sofia's crib with her and eagerly
awaits the time in the morning after Sofia wakes up that she can get in
the crib with her sister. She also loves taking baths at night with her
sister. Nothing pleases her more than to carefully use a facecloth to
rinse off Sofia's belly and legs. She is toilet trained (has been since
last summer) and has figured out how to use her stool to turn the
bathroom light on and off.

Sigh. Where does the time go.

That's some kinda magic trick; I didn't know you could do that.

Where are the pictures?

You didn't know you could stand on stools to get at the light switch?? That
kinda blows the whole "perfect" theor out of the water, doesn't it.

Where are the pictures?

On the camera. Eventually they will get posted.

Aah, but that's not what you said. Stool in the 'potty training' context
means quite something else, doesn't it?

Ahh. You made a funny!!

Speaking of stool, Emilie's impressive production in that area scarred my
brother-in-law when he was taking care of her during Sofia's birth.

On the camera. Eventually they will get posted.

Hey, you stole my line!

I will try this weekend to get them from the camera card to my computer.
Once there, uploading to photobucket is easy and then I can organize them
from work.

That was the exact way I first read it too, Suja. When Marcel said 'use her
stool' my first thoughts were 'oh no, ick, ugh, yuck.' I'm guessing
Marcel hasn't had any children *yet* that have actually used their stool for
oh say 'art work' or something.

Nope, although there was an interesting episode where Emilie, when we were
first potty-training her, didn't wake up in time during her nap, and tried
to clean up the poo, using the toilet paper and a whole box of kleenex.

I had one who pulled her diaper off at nap time, and proceeded to smear it
on the wall. Sticking her little hands out between the bars of the crib to
do so. Hence the 'oh no, ick, ugh, yuck' reaction.

Thank you for the lovely update on your family, Marcel. Yes, they grow so
fast, 'eh?

"Turn around and they're two, turn around and they're four, turn around and
they're a young girl going out of the door."

Always makes me cry. I wanted to add that song to our first daughters
wedding music. Both she and my husband said "Absolutely NOT!" Although the
lyrics are touching, they said 'everyone in the chapel would be crying if I
included that one in the playlist.'

Indeed. It sounds like they're doing wonderfully well.
