I think she's a really good vet, which is why I go there, but I also really don't have any questions about her honesty. I think that she's used to mushers breeding all sorts of crap, to be honest. But it was also very early in our relationship and she's gotten to know me and my dogs a lot better, so she encouraged me to have Image spayed and didn't question it when I had Crow spayed, even though Crow is by far the most breeding-worthy of my dogs (except maybe Jack [who started lifting his leg this weekend (my baby's growing up!)], but that remains to be seen). -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

: Hello all, has anyone had a dog diagnosed with CHF/chronic valvular disease? My own little five pounds of perfect has been diagnosed as of last week and is now on four meds, including enalapril, aldactone, pimobendan, and of course, the ever popular lasix. The heart specialist says she may have a year to a year and a half. It's heart breaking and surreal all at once. I've never been in your heartbroken shoes. some breeds are not only more susceptable.. but indeed.. very likely for your same dianosis. Cavalier Spaniels come to mind, as a breed more likely to have said problems than not. I can't help you with this dog but please select your next dog from a breeder whose sire and dam..for generations have certified clear of heart problems |

Aww, that's wonderful and lovely to read. I do enjoy her and she loves her life as it is, day to day. I guess that's the only silver lining to these things, you just love and value your dog even more than you already did. I'm glad you had your dog for as long as you did. Thanks. You're welcome. *I have a big soft spot in my heart for Maltese, because my last dog was a Maltese with all kinds of agression problems...he was the sweetest dog in the world with the people he loved, but that was a very short list (I don't think it went into double digits). *If you are interested you can google for posts by me with "Toby" in them. *He died of lung cancer in 2003 when he was only four, and I still miss him. "Peetle", as in Beetle Puppy; when she was a wee baby, she was so tiny under all the fur and the big brown eyes she looked like a little white furrybeetle on the floor. Saying Beetle Puppy really fast a couple of times turned into "Peetle" and Peetle stuck. She is totally Peetlish. I'm googling Toby. Malts rock! |

Shelter and rescue dogs are pretty much a genetic crap shoot, so "buyer" beware. Wouldn't trade mine for the world, but I know that one of them came with some issues that will last throughout his life. -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |
