Or dogs either. And I think it was pretty clear that both terms referred to
women in Paul's world.

I suppose it *could* have been interpreted as "some of my friends married
dogs" meaning that they married men and "some of them married bitches"
meaning that they married women. But there's no humor even intended in
*that* interpretation.

I saw the intent of humor - and I know that you did also. But, the joke
pretty much was only really funny if you're sitting around at a bar bitching
(see, men can bitch too) about women your friends have married. I think it
takes a couple of beers.

Who said it was? Did you read my whole answer to you, explaining the part I
found mildly amusing? I thought I had made it quite clear. Since Paul's
friends said "married to dogs and bitches" I assumed that he was referring
to both men and women, since men usually marry women (bitch=female dog) and
women marry men (dog=male dog). Then Paul turned the possibly horrendously
insensitive comment about bitches and women, oh and men and dogs, but that
bit doesn't count, and turned it around to make it seem like they were
referring to canines, making the advertisement for marriage apropos of a dog
behaviour newsgroup. THAT was what I found a little amusing. I wonder why
you are getting this upset over some friend of Paul's calling his own wife a
bitch.

Sure, but all sorts of awful stuff is intended to be funny
but requires, well, a certain mindset to actually see humor

Wow - if she's his OWN wife, well then, call her anything nasty that he
