When I was in high school right after the schools were integrated, during some down time in gym class some black girls were standing at the end of the track, singing and dancing. @panix3.panix.com: What's "this upset?" It's something that uppity wimmins get when righteous menfolk make misogynist jokes. Or something. There seems to be a certain mindset that thinks someone can't object to something unless it "upsets" them. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

So don't even *think* about pulling that "it's not all women, it's that woman" ****. Not all people have quite the same visceral reaction to the word as you. You seem to be highly sensitive to the word "bitch". I have no idea why, but to me it's not that big a deal. I know full well that I can be as bitchy as all get out at times. I have described myself that way if I'm feeling out of sorts or in greater than usual pain on a given day. So we disagree about how offensive the term "bitch" is. Fair enough. You still are ignoring what it was about the comment I found mildly amusing. I couldn't care less what Paul's friends think about their spouses. I don't know them, never will, and wouldn't try to change their opinion of their loved ones if I did. That wasn't the point of his post. And I made it more than clear that it wasn't the use of the term "bitch" I found funny, but you don't want to see that. Yep, it's not possible to object to something without being "upset" or having a physical reaction to it. WTF?! My classmate was totally comfortable with the word "n*gger," too, and I would hope it would not lead you to think that that word was more acceptable because of Linda's casual use of it. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |
