HJM was the one who said he needed to "guide and protect".

So what? What else would you call it? When I walk through a crowd,
it parts like Moses parted the Red Sea. Again, I'm a big guy.

What decent man, in his right mind, would ever allow his smallish wife
to be jostled and bumped, perhaps even injured, when he could prevent
it?

Really, what ****ing planet are you from?

I have no problem with my husband opening doors, holding my hand, etc.
He doesn't have a problem with me doing so either. We don't pretend he
has to be "protecting" me.

The question is, why would he ever want to?

Maybe they wouldn't have to "speed walk" if they had a guy with them?

Freakin' maroon.

Of course she is. Women are supposed to be
"weak" in your mind.

You are the dumbest ****ing **** I've ever encountered.

Only an embecile would equate the word petite with weak (and that's
without knowing my wife).

Or a big fat man-eating bimbo.

Or both.

K- I thought there was a generation gap syndrome going on here.

Yeah, there's that, but this is about ideology, radical feminism, etc.

Yeah, she does.

My wife claims that high heels are very comfortable for her, provided
they're fitted properly. She's a rather petite woman, so maybe that
has something to do with it. I don't know, and I don't care.

It's *her* choice. Not some fat, man-eating bimbo's choice.

I like to wear wedge heels, comfortable, more so than flat shoes in many
cases. And I can *feel* tall. ;-) Plus if you wear boot cut jeans, you
need something with some heel to it or you're constantly stepping on your
pants.

But I like him escorting me on his arm, and opening doors, etc. It's just
old fashioned courtesy. Making any more than that out of it is just silly.

I certainly agree with you, diddy. In fact I can't think of anything nicer
than walking arm in arm along the beach at night. We did that on our first
date and still enjoy doing it today. Probably more so in many ways. We
have a long and meaningful *history* behind us now. And yes, on a chilly
night, I very much enjoy a warm, strong arm around my shoulders. Frankly, I
know I will enjoy that until the day I die. I have no interest in wearing
the jock strap in my family. Doesn't mean I don't get my *say* in. My
husband would scoff at the idea I wasn't strong, stubborn and opinionated.

Of course it's silly! And hypocritical, and mean-spirited, and petty.

They just don't teach young-uns manners anymore

In some circles, that's called "progressive."

**** progressive.

I absolutely adore my grandsons and see them growing into wonderful young
gentleman, very much like their fathers and grandfather. What I'm saying
is, I agree, **** progressive. Since when did good manners and upbringing
go out of fashion? Certainly not here, anyway.

Boggle, indeed. Please try to read for comprehension, as I said no
such thing.

When did I say any *ists don't exist?!

I didn't say you did. I said that you denied having any *ists. I
call bullshit. We *all* have *ists. The problem is when you are so
blind to them that you refuse to acknowlege that they exist, and so
they go unexamined. That latter part is what you're doing. You
propped up Paul's misogyny, then vehemently denied that what you were
enabling a misogynist.

To provoke me into saying you're not a lady,

So your behavior is *my* fault? How does that work?

which you requested in the first place,

No, actually, I didn't.

and then be smug that I "scold"ed you, is just ridiculous.

Not smug. It's just that you wouldn't be the first person to use
that word to scold women for not being what you think they ought to
be.

Melinda explained it pretty well, I think.

I was not scolding anyone.

Oh, for sure you were. That word is, in my experience, almost
universally used to scold women into meekly staying in their place.
Well, **** *that*!

And I haven't said anyone
needs to conform to anything.

Reread Melinda's post. By calling me a lady, then turning around and
telling me that I'm *not* a lady, you are telling me that I have
failed to conform to your definition of "ladiness." Whatever the
hell that is.

Where are you people reading this stuff??

Your posts.

Who the hell is Paulette?

Google is your friend. In short (though it should have been clear
from context), you aren't the first one to use that word as a
criticism.

TD, no explanation is necessary.

It's *your* choice.

Shelly chooses to wear combat boots and pink hair.

It's *her* choice.

Unfortunately, she thinks she's the only one who gets to choose.

When my daughters were dating, I used to watch through the window

Not one guy failed to open their doors.

No "progressives" around here, thankyouverymuch.

I believe the reason these two get along is that they're
intellectual peers. I think Jack's wife probably bows to a
lot of pressure, but she's a grown-up and it's her
business. Be that as it may, the question is precisely
about choice. People who choose not to go with the girlbot
schtick get an awful lot of **** from you folks. 'Cause
they're all about "choice."
