Oh, dear. When someone like "Jack" makes the "Hitler was a
vegetarian and Gandhi was a vegetarian, therefore GANDHI WAS
A NAZI!!!!!!!" argument I think it's probably best to point
and laugh rather than to contest it.

Hmm, I thought that's what I was doing.

That figures.

You're just as stupid as Butch, ergo you were arguing against a point
that wasn't even being made?

Gotcha.

You've just become El Quinto Bimbo!

Congratulations!

Freakin' maroons.

Well, when you make it about yourself you make it about
yourself. The real issue is that "Jack" doesn't know how to
do anything other than call names, and consequently he makes
stupid, content-free arguments that aren't actually
arguments, just name-calling. So, make it about Jack and
his inability to construct an argument.

While I may not agree with all of Jacks political beliefs, he makes good
arguments for each and every one. What he has to say is thought provoking,
and leads an *independent* like myself to do a bit of research.

As for those who emigrate here, live in our country, I too expect them to
live by *our* laws, the same as if I lived in their country. Many Americans
are in foreign jails and prisons right now for not following the laws of
other countries, regardless if they coincide with our own legal system here
at home.

As for 'calling names' can we say a HUGE PKB to that one.

Oh yeah? Like what? To the extent that he relies on
citations it's to opinion pieces in right-wing political
propaganda. He asserts things as true that aren't, and to
my knowledge he's never actually made an argument that
presents facts and then uses them as the basis for a
reasoned discussion. At a minimum a good argument is based
on the arguer having his facts straight, and "Jack" doesn't
even bother with that.

You either. For example:

As for those who emigrate here, live in our country, I too expect them to
live by *our* laws, the same as if I lived in their country.

Who's saying that immigrants to the US shouldn't obey US
law? I mean seriously, tiny - do you have any idea what
you're talking about?

I don't know if you caught Hardball last night but he had a
guest on who made a "Jack"-oid argument - that Barack Obama
was like Neville Chamberlain. So Matthews asked him what
Chamberlain did that was wrong, and the guest said "He was
an appeaser." And for some minutes they went back and
forth, with Chris Matthews asking "But what did Chamberlain
*DO*?" and the guest saying "He was an appeaser." This guy
didn't have a clue what Chamberlain did that was the problem
but just repeatedly called him a name from the standard
right-wing talking points, and boy, that's the kind of crap
that's got "Jack" written all over it.

So again, who's saying that people who move to the US
shouldn't obey US laws?

Also, you owe me $5.

All you have to do is to actually *read* my posts and find out for
yourself, and then either agree with or disagree with what I
*actually* write.

You know - debate.

Yes, to my face, without always going the proxy route, or trying to
debate me through someone else, which only a ****ing ignorant coward
like yourself would even try to do.

To the extent that he relies on
citations it's to opinion pieces in right-wing political
propaganda.

So...besides being really, really stupid, you actually are really,
really blind, too?

That must make life really, really, tough, no?

Most of my links are to either mainstream media sites, or to left-wing
sites. Sometimes one may need to go through a right-wing site to get
there, because those ostensibly right-wing sites enjoy (almost as much
as I do!) pointing out the idiocy of the Left. And then I don't have
to work so hard to find them myself (a *classical* liberal)..

But so what if some of them are right-wing?

They would probably be your only exposures to right-wing or
alternative thinking, opinion, etc. Unfortunately, people like you,
Melinda, almost always prefer to live in your own little cloistered
echo chambers, where everyone thinks and sounds alike. And even dress
alike. Like good little commie pinko progressive types.

But some of us prefer the nitty gritty bang bang of debate and
discussion, and find monologues utterly boring and mind-numbing,
especially when they're given by petty, ignorant, and sanctimonious
idiots like yourself.

He asserts things as true that aren't,

Yet after all these years, you can't produce even one example.

sigh

Tick tock. Tick Tock.

We're still waaaaaay-ting.

and to
my knowledge he's never actually made an argument that
presents facts and then uses them as the basis for a
reasoned discussion.

Well, if we have to limit this to only "[your] knowledge," we're
pretty much ****ed then, aren't we?

Yup, right up the kazoo, too, because you're so profoundly stupid, and
there's no cure for stupid.

When I do argue a point, I either present evidence that supports my
position, or I offer sound logic and reason in support of my position,
usually anticipating that others will do likewise.

I.e., debate.

Unfortunately (and I am a very patient man), people like you
(sanctimonious pseudo-intellectuals) never get around to responding
with anything but name-calling, insults, ridicule, etc., no matter how
long I wait for those "facts" of theirs/yours to arrive.

And that's usually because there's no "there" there.

Just a lot of "sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Yes, we can. Which is why Melinda will one day be inducted into the
Chutzpah Hall of Fame, which is located somewhere (I hear) in the
state of New York, of course.

Yes, it's takes world-class chutzpah for someone whose basic modus

Why thank you, TD.

I shouldn't get all the credit though, because it's not really a
learned behavior. To be a world-class bullshit detector, one must have
been born with the right genes. I was detecting bullshit from the very
moment my little feets first hit the ground.

So all the thanks really should go to my beloved parents, may they
rest in peace.

But I went forth and multiplied, as instructed, so the world will
remain safe from bullshitters like Melinda and her ilk for years and
years to come.

Melinda seems like a very narrow-minded and unhappy person who reads only
enough to find something to criticize, and then concentrates all of her
limited mental capacity on that, while ignoring the larger issue. She seems
to do so in an attempt to belittle others for her own self-aggrandizement,
which may be a trait of those who allow emotions to trump logic and common
sense. I may not agree with all of your viewpoints, and some of your
sources may be questionable, but at least you provide an intelligent and
reasonable argument that can be debated. Melinda reminds me of a friend who
often acts irrationally and justifies her actions on what she wishes were
true, in contradiction to what can be clearly demonstrated to be otherwise,
and then assumes a childish attitude trying to avoid responsibility for
stupid things she continues to do even when warned beforehand.

I especially dislike closed-mindedness, which seems to be especially
rampant in extremist followers of Islam, but also was and still is evident
in some supposedly Christian cults. I have not read all of the following
article, but it seems to have some good information:

http://research.yale.edu/culturalcog...tion_draft.pdf

It is impossible to argue with someone who unquestionably believes
something that cannot be absolutely proven or disproven, but there is a big
problem when such people attempt to force others to accept their beliefs,
or make unreasonable concessions in their way of life to accommodate their
narrow and arbitrary dogma. And it seems that, in a misguided attempt to be
"politically correct", and "socially sensitive", we have allowed our
society and education to deteriorate to the point where a dangerously large
percentage of citizens are ignorant of simple scientific facts, clueless
about geography and history, and believers in myths and superstitions.
