Like when Kerry said "I was for the war before I was against it." Or Bush Sr., when he said "Read my lips. No new taxes." His quotes, after he succeeded in pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, are the quotes you should give greatest weight to. For example, during the war years, in his "Table Talk" collection, where he said things like "Let’s be the only people [the Germans] who are immunized against this disease," where disease equals religion. Or "through the peasantry we shall be able to destroy Christianity." Does that sound like any Christian you know? And, of course, there are the scumbags he surrounded himself with, e.g., Goebbels, Himmler, Heydrich and Bormann, who were *devout* atheists. Read D'Souza's paper for more. Not that it matters to me whether Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot were atheists. Atheist, religious, doesn't matter. Jerks and monsters come in all flavors. Yup, that's absolutely true. Which is why painting with broad brushes usually leads to riding in certain buses all the time. We can also find plenty of religious monsters who made the world a much worse place. Yup, sadly so. But humans, after all, being human, I'm not surprised by that. I'd actually be shocked if it were otherwise. If you think that knowing that Stalin was an atheist makes atheists cringe, it should make you cringe when you read about the deeds of some of the Roman Catholic Popes and Inquisitors. You bet. And it does. But again, Roman Catholics are human beings, too, and since there are well over a billion of us, I'm pretty sure that some will do some pretty horrible things in the future, too. Just don't take up too many of those seats on Shaw's bus with religious folks, because we're going to need quite a few of them for atheists, too. And that was particularly true in the 20th century, i.e., not very long ago. -- Handsome "Jack" Morrison A reading assignment for Janet "El Bimbo Más Grande" Boss. The Roman Catholic church has some pretty bizarre crap that gets spewed. Yeah, especially by bimbos and bozos who know absolutely nothing about Catholic doctrine. And why exactly is the Pope speshul? I can't tell you that. It's Top Secret. If I told you, I'd have to burn you at a stake, and it's almost impossible to find good stakes these days. Even Home Depot stopped carrying them. sigh Many of the biggest bigots I've met are RC's. Well then, with that stupid remark, you've certainly raised the bigot quotient for your side by a factor or two, eh? Unless, of course, you think The Obamamessiah could actually sit there in that despicable "church" in Chicago for *20* freakin' years, along with his *children*(!), and listen to a man who married him, and who he calls his "spiritual advisor", preach hatred for whites, Jews, America, etc., and not be affected by it. You're about to jump the shark here, in your desire to make Hitler into something he most definitely wasn't - a religious person. He was to religion what Orkin is to bugs. Lots of nonchristians believe in some form of deity. The only "deity" Hitler believed in was Hitler himself. Which, among other things, is why he had people salute him, "Heil, Hitler!" and not Germany, God, etc., with *his* picture or likeness splattered on every wall, etc. You can travel to North Korea and see the cheap knock off version even today. Yes, I think narcissism may even be linked to atheism, too.
