Perhaps. But just as equally, you are extremely quick to detect contempt

individual who typifies behaviors historically associated with the gender.

Paul has systematically criticized women for being overweight. He
shouldn't do it once, much less multiple times.

My best friend even blames her worst attributes on PMS (lets face it.. men
shouldn't have that)

She's a woman, so that's her prerogative. It is not, however, okay
for men to do so.

A vast amount of women blame PMS rather than take accountability.

I have no idea about "vast amount." I do know that hormonal
fluctuations can make some women's lives hell. It doesn't hurt to
give them the benefit of the doubt, unless you have a *really* good
reason not to.

Ah! So you admit that the female gender comes inherent with some rather
unbecoming traits unique to the female.

Women are allowed to acknowlege them. But men are supposed to look at the
sky and whistle, pretending they don't exist, and bowing to the woman as
being perfect

Biology is a harsh mistress.

Women are allowed to acknowlege them.

Of course.

No. Men ought not use those differences as a bludgeon to beat women
with. Unless, of course, they want people to think they're misogynists.

Not to worry. That happens to me on a daily basis.

ObSomethingUpthread: A coworker told me last week that I must be
having hot flashes. Apparently she has the same problem as Kelly,
only in the opposite direction. (How young and/or old do people
think I *am*? Lordy!)

I don't know how old you are. I started having hot flashes when
I was 43 or 44, IIRC.

Oh, I suppose it's possible, just really unlikely. And since it
*was* hot in here on that day, why assume zebras when horses are the
obvious culprit? The other thing is that just a couple of days
previous, this same coworker asked a much-younger-than-me coworker
if she was a member of AARP.

Shelly (and Melinda) seem to get off on unwarrented criticism, and they
will search and pick like hungry chickens to find some isolated comment
that they can use to continue their diatribes. Probably due to their own
misanthropy and poor self-image.

I have many female friends, and most are either rail thin or in various
stages of obesity. These physical traits do not make them attractive, but
their kindness and intelligence make them dear friends. And I can discuss
(and even kid about) their weight and other problems without being mean,
and we provide mutual support and understanding as good friends should.
Shelly seems to be incapable of such human compassion.

Thanks for your expression of concern. Muttley ate very little and
exercised much over our long weekend, and I think he may have lost some
weight (the pictures were taken Saturday). I will take him to the vet to
make sure he has not put on too much since he was last weighed in January,
when he was 82 lb. I think he has some bully breed in his ancestry, which
may affect his proportions. He does not look as fat "in person" as he does
in those pictures. He (and I) look especially wide on my monitor, because I
do not have the right video card and the images are stretched about 30%,
like in a carnival mirror.

Give Tuck (Snappy-Grabby) a healthy treat and a good long run on your ATV!

Could be your worker's misperception of age. But hot flashes do
start at widely variable ages, as does menopause. Even in the
late 30s they aren't unknown, just fairly rare.

However, one thing that was surefire trigger of a hot flash for
me was excess heat, like being in a hot room. Yeah, ain't ma
nature wonderful. Why couldn't I have hot flashes when it was
freezing, when they would have been useful?
