Default Excaping my house -- Help

hi, npanko,
many of the above suggestions are practical. but perhaps you can also
look into traiing your dog. Try to obersve: does he escape in your
presence , or just in your absence?

If he escapes whether or not you are there, you should always exert an
immediate punishment - an easy way is always having a weapon - light
enough not to hurt him, bur firm enough to be thrown as far as
10meters. Aim and throw the weapon at him, shouting at the top of your
lungs "NOOOOOOOOOO!"

Once he’s escaped, go look for him, asking him to go come to you, so
tat you can bring him home, on a leash. One important thing - if he
comes to you voluntarily, do not punish him. Just say, "Good boy".
But if he ignores you, and you manged to catch him outside the house,
punish him right then, severely (scare him enuf - using the same words
like, NO OUTSIDE UNDERSTAND!) - don’t mumble too many words - words
are confusing.

Hope this helps.

We have a great pyr/ saint mix. He is 14 months old and we
have had him for 6 months. He has been a great dog since we
have gotten him. We are able to leave him unattended in the
house with no problems (except a few destroyed toys).

We recently started a house renovation. Since this has
happened, he has been escaping out house. We went out of town
and he jumped out of our windows (through the screens). He
even know how to open the windows if they are not locked.
Also, he has been getting out of our 6 foot privacy fence.
Once he is gone, he wanders with no thought to watch out for
cars. I would love to keep my windows open, but he leaves.
Any suggestions? We could really use some help!
