Heh. I just find those to be easy names to call. And I cannot help it
if Charles Schulz was big on them.

Well, I used to know some people with a dog named Montana. *:-)

I never thought about that! That's funny, though.

No disrespect intended...

I have a dog named Montana - he's a 12 yr old, a 140 pound Golden
Retreiver. His little brother's name is Cheyenne.

Have you actually weighed him? Put him on a diet?

When I think of a dog I don't think of a short cow.

Ok...we are stuck. I think we have looked through at least 100 dog
name lists, baby name lists, but we can not find a name that suits his
face.

We have one dog named Sophie already - so my husband wants a name that
does not end with a "y" sound.

Any suggestions

What name does this face say to you?

Silly!

Myself I like the "Y" sound.

I didn't consider that. In my case Murphy, Rocky, and Maybe are
all pretty cute. My naming pattern probably has an underlying

I think what constitutes "the cutesy factor" is highly individual.
I don't see Maybe, Murphy, and Rocky as cutesy names. Heck, I never
even noticed the similarity in end sounds. Janet's dogs' names, too.

For me, the OP's first dog's name could go either way with the
cutesy-poo-ness, depending on what the second dog's name is.

He's been an exceptionally large dog his entire life - he was 100
pounds by one year old. He's been weighed regularly at our vet's
office. Yes, we have him on a good diet and he takes thyroid meds
also. He gets lots of exercise (walking & swimming) and his health is
generally good for his age. He was 1 of a litter of 9 male pups -
about 1/3 are exceptionally large dogs, although he is the biggest.
Both mother & father are normal sized goldens.

He's ~2x the weight of a normal sized Golden. I have done Golden rescue
and we get a lot of very overweight dogs in, but 140#? How tall is he
at the shoulder? What do you consider a good diet?

My 26" tall Golden is 68#. 26" is very tall for a Golden and he's a
long dog as well. I can't imagine what 140# looks like.
