The good news is that it doesn't sound like SA. It sounds like something
that can be fixed pretty easily, once you identify the cause.

That means meds probably won't be useful and the OP's behavior may need to
be modified.

This is something we have had to do with our dogs. Leaving and returning
can be much bigger deals than we understand.

We eventually established a pattern and a leaving phrase so dogs know when
we're going to be gone for a while. (Guard the dog. Used to be guard the
house, but as long as we use the word "guard" it means we're going
somewhere without dogs.)

We had to learn not to say anything or look at the dogs until they were
outside. Once we got that worked out for a while, we could go back to low
key greetings, but they are very low key. Dogs are still very excited that
we're back, but it's a very different pattern - and different greeting
from them.

We're all a lot happier about that now.
