It's free, simple to set up, and pretty reliable (there are
occasional slow periods and down periods, but they have a server
status page that's kept up to date, so you can just pick a different
server if the one you're currently using goes down.)

Another bonus is that messages with HTML are filtered out, as well as
a lot of spam.

which is reliable, offers more than 24,000 groups, filters HTML & spam, and
has good tech support. It's not free, but at 10 Euros per year - about
$16.89 US, at current conversion rates, which translates to about
$1.40/month - it's a genuine bargain.

Thanks, Shelly! Seems to be working fine. I appreciate the tip. I've
tried the one that Sionnach recommended before (http://www.individual.net/),
but setting up a Euros Pay-pal equivalent account was beyond my skills. I
became too frustrated to continue with it. I don't mind paying for reliable
service, but free is good, too! LOL...
