Default Don't bother getting up - I'll get my own treat

Last night Muttley let me know that he wanted a treat. He's been good, so I
went over to the bag of rawhide chews on the floor and asked him if that
was what he wanted. I tried to get him to point to the bag, but he didn't
quite get the idea, and he looked at me as if saying, "Of course!" I took
one out and he sat down, stubby tail wagging, eyes fixed on the morsel, and
I gave it to him. He went to his dog bed and chewed it up while I watched a
SNL rerun.

A few minutes later, having finished it, he got up and went into the
kitchen. Then he came trotting back with another chew in his mouth. He
looked at me, and I took it from him without protest. But he really wanted
it, and when he sat nicely to take it, he was once again rewarded.

A bit later, he went back again, and I figured he was helping himself once
more, so I told him "No", and he came back and looked at me. But the
temptation was too great, so he got another out of the bag and brought it
back. This time, I had him give it to me, and I let him know that he had
had enough. But then I realized that I may not have given him his evening
3/4 cup of kibble, and he was probably rather hungry. So I gave him that,
and he was satisfied. I stowed the treats where he can't easily reach them.

No problem. Just life with a happy, calm, and trustworthy dog.

Paul and Muttley
