I'd like to add greyhound to the list of breeds with spotted tongues:
the late great Zeke had a single black spot on his. Alas, no
pictures.

One of my father in law's purebred Labs has a single black spot on the
center of his tongue.

My first venture into this corner of usenet was my post on RPD.breeds
asking what breed Muttley might be.

http://groups.google.com/group/rec.p...d?dmode=source

Some other guesses as to his genetic makeup included Shar-Pei, Leonberger,
St Bernard, GSD, PBT, and Lab. Others have also included Mastiff and
Rottie. I still think he looks a lot like an Anatolian Shepherd.

On the pictures above, he looks closest to "Chong", the GSD/Lab, and his
body looks like the "ca de bou". He bears slight resemblance to the
Mastiff. But I have pictures of ASTs and APBTs and ASDs that look very much
like Muttley, and he does not look anything like the pure Shar-Pei or Chow
that I found.

I think somebody in the "hood" just tried to give him a tattoo on his
tongue!

My guess is that he's several generations removed from
purebred and could have absolutely anything in him. Go to
usatoday.com and have some fun with their breed quiz linked
to at the bottom of their home page.

Making up nonsense about your dog makes you less
interesting, not more interesting.

VERY cool page! I'll have to see if I can find appropriate pictures of
Brenin and Morag to send, since his tongue's solid blue-black, and hers is
spotted.

When I saw "Chong" my first thought was Muttley - definitely in the face.
