You know how some people can eat 2500 calories/day and not
gain weight and other people can't eat 1500? The bag is not
the authority on how much to feed, your dog is the authority
on how much to feed.

Blimey....I could try that, give her a third of what I think she would want
to eat, and the divide that into three.....I just find it odd!

If all else fails and the dog is in good health, try putting a tablespoon of
moist canned dog food on the dry food and see if that will work.
Also, maybe she only needs to be fed twice a day now.

Thank you for posting instructions on how to create fussy
eaters.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wet food smells like poo, and I refuse to bribe her to
eat.....bad enough she gobbled it up when I squirted a cod liver oil
capsule on it...I won't be held to ransom by a beagle!

Yep I do know, the bag gives an *indication* of how much to feed but it is
strange that a normal active puppy does not appear to be hungry for most of
the time...

Not that strange. Why are you so resistant to the notion
that she's just plain getting too much food?

The dog we are discussing is the fussy eater. I always feed my dogs in this
manner, and not once have I had a dog that wouldn't eat.
The wet food makes it easier for the dry food to be digested and they love
it.

Hey! Guess what - I don't have dogs that don't eat, either.
I've had dogs that wouldn't eat well and I've turned them
into dogs that eat without having to resort to bribery.
Plus, it's normal (that is to say, normal normal normal
normal and NORMAL) for a growing puppy to require less food
as it matures (and ABNORMAL if it doesn't), and if you're
encouraging to eat anyway you're encouraging it to be a fat
fat puppy.

The wet food makes it easier for the dry food to be digested and they love
it.

Actually, the wet food doesn't particularly make it easier
for the dry food to be digested. Soaking the kibble in
water for a bit beforehand is probably the best bet for
increasing the absorption rate, but it's really unnecessary
for the average pet dog. And anyway, it's my suspicion that
you brought up digestibility to justify having proposed
adding more food to the diet of a dog that's probably
already getting too much.

According to the Arden Grange web site, she (dogs 20 pounds/9 kilos)
should be eating somewhere between 123-185 grams per day. I had to
use the numbers for adult food, because I couldn't find any puppy
numbers, but they should be somewhat similar.
http://www.ardengrange.com/Pet-Food/...24#Feedinguide

And you said she's eating about a third of the 250 grams you're
putting down for her, or ~83 grams. Are you absolutely certain? If
you're off by just a little bit, and she's actually eating closer to
125 grams per day, she's probably eating more than enough food for her
level of activity.

So find out exactly how much food she's actually *eating*.

No numbers are provided there.

Just this:
"The breed, age, activity level and temperament of your dog will
influence the amount of food required. The quantities shown in the
chart below are for guidance only. Always ensure fresh, clean drinking
water is available."

It's essentially telling you to let your eyes be your guide, and your
puppy looks just fine to me.

You might try upping her *exercise* level and see what happens, but I
think you're just fine.

If it still concerns you, it never hurts to see your vet.

Yep, thats the one. Oh well I give up, she is eating *something* so I'm sure
she'll be fine. Just thought it was weird.
