There re North American Black Dogs and Janet (I think) mentioned something
about Baltimore Black Dogs, but I can't find the cite.

I'm probably the one who mentioned Baltimore Blacks; back in the day I
had a friend who had two of them.

Sewing Barbie clothes takes real skill. I tried and gave up in
frustration, and I've had lots of sewing experience. I've been sewing
for 48 years (I started on a Singer treadle when they weren't uncommon).
I'm not exceptionally talented, but I do know my way around the basics.
And Barbie clothes are impossible. For me.

While they do present their own set of problems, you're still ahead of
me if you know your way around the basics. I found I'd completely
forgotten a lot of basic skills in garment making and had to re-learn
just about everything.
With Barbie clothes, they might be easy to mess up because they're so
small but the good news is, if you do mess up you're only out a small
amount of fabric and time. I couldn't even remember how to figure out how
much elastic one needs.

I'm teasing you. I truly admire you. Your skills, your energy, your
intelligence, and the way you live your life.

You're quite good at soothing souls, Karla. Thank you so much for
the kind words.
And while I did not get a photo of this today, Carmine got on my
lap when I was sitting on the sofa with my grand-daughter playing today.
She lined all 6 of her dolls up on top of Carmine pretending
he was a big black horse. He didn't seem to even notice he's covered
in dolls, lace and ribbons and she didn't seem to notice her doll clothes
were covered in black hair.

Win,win.

Great story, what a pair!
Karla

You tore the head off a Barbie doll?

While I certainly understand the desire to do so, I can't say I've ever done
it. I'm wondering why Terri goes around tearing off Barbie doll heads, and
if that means she's likely to turn on her grandurchin.

"The Mi-Ki need a daily walk. Play will take care of a lot of their
exercise needs, however, as with all breeds, play will not fulfill
their primal instinct to walk. Dogs who do not get to go on daily
walks are more likely to display behavior problems." ~

Anyone heard of the primal instinct to walk?

I walked down the hall and looked in on her to see what she was up to.
She was playing with the barbie, alright. She had its head stuffed into
the jaws of her Jurassic Park T-Rex (with genuine roaring and stomping
sounds!), and it was rampaging through a Lego Village she'd custom built
for just that purpose.

She sounds like a nice, sensible kid. Dinosaur food - what Barbies are good
for!

Well, for whatever it's worth dogbreedinfo.com has
incredibly stupid stuff about established breeds, too. *My
impression is that whoever got there first got to contribute
the breed descriptions and there's no subsequent editing.
Picture Wikipedia without the corrections. *

I figured as much, but it still boggles the mind how someone would
think a dog has a primal instinct to walk, and issues would arise
because that need was not being met. I know there are stupid people
out there, but I figured the ones that stupid didn't know how to use a
computer.

(Ob. Dog) Storm-the-puppy went through a chewy phase (of course). We
neglected to pick up the kids' room one day, and a Barbie got
munched. DD, then four, was in tears until we managed to recast the
situation as "Amputee Barbie." DD became very fond of Amputee Barbie,
and it was with very mixed feelings that I binned her as we gave away
the now-outgrown Barbie things last fall.

What - "Math is hard, let's go shopping!" wasn't enough?

Hey *I'm* the one that needs protection and your concern here! She's got

Not that you would have it any other way.

Does grandchild know that her Nana goes around terrorizing Barbie dolls?

( I've been teaching her to read and she's a reader now at 4.)

That's so cool. A couple of years ago, when Nephew was over for an
overnighter, I finally got him to read. Now, he take is as a competitive
sport - let's see who reads the most number of books in X amount of time. I
wish he'd just slow down and enjoy it, for a change. He's only 6, so there
is hope still, although he's like that with math also, so maybe not.

I figured since Mattel made the new "belly button barbie" to look
like it has sciliosis in the quest for a more "realistic" and "acheivable"
"roll-model-body-shape-for-little-girls"

I had to look that up. Did you know that Barbie is an AR whacko? And a
