DD and the crew from her barn left this afternoon for the Chuckwagon
Races down in Clinton, Arkansas. She's going to be an outrider for
Outlaw Wimmen which means she'll be participating in 5 official races in
addition to various informal events.

They were planning to leave at about 3:30 yesterday, but what one thing
and another, didn't actually hit the road until 7 p.m. So the storm
that blew through here, flattening trees with gale force winds, caught
them on the highway.

The wind hit the trailer broadside and it swerved. One of the rear
wheels dropped over the low shoulder and when Al tried to correct the
entire wheel was torn off and lost somewhere in the woods below. They
put the spare on, but didn't have any lug nuts. So they stole one nut
off of each of the other wheels and got moving again. Then the spare blew.

They spent the night on the side of the highway in the storm and at
first light Al and Heather unhitched the truck and drove back to where
they'd seen a Walmart. With the necessary repairs completed, they
headed out again. Last I heard they were about an hour outside of Clinton.
