I disagree. You may as well say that Bluegrass is as old as Scottish
traditional music.

It does indeed have its roots in the old-time "hillbilly" music
common in the appalacian mountains of Virginia, KY, etc and its
roots are scots/irish.


Much more Scots than Irish, but yes.
