She is *22*, deaf, half-blind, and wobbly. How the hell
did she manage to get up there?!

I am seriously impressed at her nerve and stupidity.

What a kitty! I, too, am impressed. Has she always been a climber?

Love the way she's still working that element of surprise!

Oh, yes! Even when she was a tiny kitten, she made it her mission to
figure out how to get to the highest point in every room. She's a
fearless explorer.

Love the way she's still working that element of surprise!

That's Pan!

And an addendum: Apparently it was not just a freak thing. I woke
up in the middle of the night to a big crash in the kitchen. She'd
knocked some lids off the counter, trying to jump across to the top
of the fridge. I think she thinks the top of the fridge is her new
perch. I'm going to have to figure out a way to block access,
because I don't want her knocking crap off the back or worse, falling
behind the fridge.

This seems to be something elderly cats do. Our Polychrome, who
must be pushing 16, perches in all sorts of weird places. She
likes the fridge top as well and I think it's because of the heat
coming out of the coils on the back.

Pan likes warm spots, for sure. Her favorite is the top of the DVR
or TV, which I've been trying to discourage. The fridge, though, was
always "Pan's spot," even when she was a kitten. So this isn't new
behavior so much as behavior that stopped for years and then suddenly
restarted again.

she probably just levitated herself up there. cats are like that.

I swear she did that when she was younger. I don't know how else to
explain it, other than that she literally climbed the walls.
