I found a small flier on my car today:
One on One Pet Care in my home Pampered and Personalized weekdays-weekends-holidays Large grounds/Invisible Fence (phone number) Does this person think she can just slap an IF collar on boarders and all will be well?!!?!? I find it disturbing! -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |

Even though Atty is trained to an IF, I wouldn't even dream of sending her to someone else's place expecting her to respect their fence boundries without a month or 2 or training. Some people are just clueless.... I would assume that IF owners would know this wouldn't be a good thing, but then again, if she has an IF, then she's an owner, yada yada yada. Unless, perhaps, giving her the (slightest) benefit of the doubt..... she bought the house already wired and has never trained a dog to it. Sue and Atty |

How does she think this is going to work? I purchased the deluxe innotek
contain and train and they told me it will only work with 2 dogs. Fortunately my beagle mix won't leave the yard at all so I don't have to put a collar on him. Even so with the fence I never let any of them out by themself. I guess you could add another collar but with my system you can't use the training feature because if you tone one or give them a correction more than one dog would get the command. Celeste You can put multiple dogs on an IF brand system. But, what exactly does "multiple dogs" mean? I know when we got ours they said if we got a second dog we could get a second collar. My understanding was only the dog who goes near the line gets the corrections, so you could have as many dogs as you wanted, as long as you had that number of collars. Of course, I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time! But back to the OP - it takes training. You are brave for having a beagle ("mix" might make a difference, though)on the system! The beagles I know in our family (who are full beagles) wouldn't respect the boundries. They put their nose to the ground and are gone, be damned with the correction! Heck, the labs that my cousin has on the system cross the line and head to the neighbor's for treats. But of course, they didn't train, they just put the line down and the collar on. Duh, no wonder they cross it. They just run faster through the correction for the food. (and again, back to the OP topic) I can probably count on 1 hand the number of times Atty has received any correction, and it was all within the first couple of months of training. Heck, I just realized that the battery was dead. I have no idea when it went dead. She has no idea, and half the time doesn't have the collar on. Of course, I'm out with her, but my husband sends her out on her own at 5:30 in the morning. So, I'm wondering... Janet, did you ever do a followup? Sue and Atty |
