There have been no rabid dogs in my county for decades.

Matt, like many of us, travels out of his immediate are with his dogs.
I guess yours don't get to go anywhere or do anything?

And yeah, I think a lot of us are very aware of rabies in
our areas, particularly if we're in areas where there's a
lot of it.

And it's not just the risk of actually contracting rabies.
In my county it's the law that if an unvaccinated dog has
any physical contact whatsoever with suspect wildlife that
dog must be euthanized - no exceptions.

that vaccinating over and over is what causes much of the problems
with dogs.

I thought it was kibble?

That this vet vaccinated the dog after already knowing it's had
adverse reactions

I believe Matt said that this was the first time Friday had had an
adverse reaction to RV.

And have you actually looked at the rabies stats in your area? The
numbers are frequently exaggerated to scare you into getting more
shots.

If the numbers are exaggerated, what good will it do to look at them?

There have been no rabid dogs in my county for decades.

Good for you.

Perhaps this is because people vaccinate their dogs?

Even if there had been no rabid dogs in the county for decades - which may
or may not be true because dogs crawl off and die without anyone sending the
body to Cornell for testing - I would still vaccinate my dogs.

I do it to protect my dogs. I'm not concerned that they are going to get
rabies from another dog. I'm concerned that they will get it from some
other rabid animal. The ones that run wild and don't get vaccinated.

And it's the law here. I don't break the law without a damned good reason.

It is a valid public health concern because rabies is one of the zoonotics
that can transmit from species to species including humans and with rare
exception it is horribly fatal. If an unvaccinated pet has contact with a
human where skin is broken, that pet, by law, has to be euthanized and brain
tissue sent for testing. Not a consequence I'm willing to take.

No kidding. It's bad enough when my dog tangles with wildlife, but to
have to worry about rabies, too? No, thanks. I suppose, though, that I
could just roll her in bubblewrap and keep her inside. She'd stay safe,
but lordy, that'd be boring for her. It'd also make it difficult for
her to catch bunnies, which activity I'm sure Chard approves of.

I'm sorry, you big meanie, but keeping your dog out of
harm's way is not a species-appropriate lifestyle. Left to
their own devices, dogs in the wild tangle with other
predators and die young, the way nature intended.

As long as they get to wear coats and booties. The dogs, that is.

Side tracking again I see. I said nothing that relates to what you
posted. What does it matter if you travel? One shot is good for a
lifetime of protection.

And guess what? Dogs can build immunity *without vaccines*! Dumb people
think they have to have those shots over and over again when it's proven
that it isn't true.

There is and never has been a reason to vaccinate over and over. As the
Science of Vaccines states, by repeating them you can quite likely
create illness in your dog, in particular auto immune diseases. Funny
how nobody posted to that article. Afraid?

No sidetracking, but you're still an idiot. Too bad your dogs don't get
to have a life.
