I was looking for my digital camera yesterday and just couldn't find it
anywhere. The last time I remember absolutely having it for sure was Saturday at my daughter's. So I called her, asking if I had left it there, but having a feeling I didn't. Sure enough, my daughter remembers specifically telling me to take it, and watching me pick it up and put it in my tote. A check of the car, under seats and all, and still no camera. So I started looking in my house. Now, I'm the kind of girl who doesn't put stuff away. I have my stuff all over the house, and I know where it all is. My husband claims it's just messy but I know better. My mild OCD makes me put stuff in the same place, everytime. I KNOW where mostly everything in my house is, even my husband's stuff. It bothers the hell out of me if he puts something "away". I like my stuff close to hand, and in the same place each time. Worrying about my camera bothered me most of the evening. I called my daughter twice asking if she had found the camera. I thought maybe I had left it in the baby grand's bedroom where we had taken pictures of the new guinea pigs. But no. So I worried, and fretted. I thought about the videos of Kiba on the memory card. And the picture of him sunbathing that was just perfect. I thought about having to replace the camera and the spare memory cards that were in the little leather case with it. I worried while I played a computer game later that night. While I played, and worried, I heard a "thunk". I looked over, and there, not three feet from me, is my camera in its black leather case. In the middle of the floor, Kiba laying a few feet away. I couldn't believe my eyes. I picked it up. Yup, it was real. Now this part is embarrassing: I didn't think of Kiba right at that second. My mind flashed on telekinesis, or miracle or whatever other weird **** your mind does when weird **** happens. Realizing how stupid that was, I started to wonder: how did he A: Get the camera, B: Where has it been? C: Why did he give it back to me, just like that, when I thinking of it so hard? I examined the case for teeth marks, thinking he might have kept it as a chew toy. Not a mark on it. It didn't even look like it had been in his mouth. I'm pretty sure that the camera must have been in the little tote bag that I keep for travelling back and forth to the mainland. In it are poop bags, dog treats, clickers and sometimes a plastic container of kibbles, if I'm going to be gone all day. I put my book and bottle of water in there too. So I can only surmise that Kiba stole the camera out of the bag (leaving the container of cookies!?) and hid it somewhere. Then, for some reason clear only to his doggie mind, decided to give it back, right at the time I was thinking of it. I'm still kind of in shock about it. I'm almost willing to believe it simply appeared there on the floor because I wanted it so badly. -- Phyrie Kiba the Cav's Pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phyrie/...758930/detail/ |
