... Sounds good. You love cats, and this one needs you! What a happy festivus present. We'll see! All I know so far, second hand via my mom, is that the cat is mostly black and very sweet. But before you acquiesce, you should put your brother through some paces, such as the feats of strength. Oh, I'm going to do that anyway. It's part of my big sisterly job, dontchaknow? -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

She's a wonderful hot water bottle. hmmm... anything happen over the weekend that would have made her restless? Nope. Just a bog-standard boring weekend at home. She is probably dreaming that she is running and jumping. Muttley often does that when he is laying next to me, but generally his feet are facing away from me. Sometimes he winds up taking too much of the bed, and I have to ask him to "move around" or "get off" so I can rearrange the covers and get comfortable. Then he gets back in, almost immediately when asked, or otherwise he might sneak back in after I am asleep. Maybe you can get some dog booties for Harriet, and stuff them with foam rubber, so her kicks won't hurt so much. But I doubt they would stay on very long. Does she always curl up on the same side? Maybe she is facing the other way because of some pain issue with her normal position. Paul and Muttley |

I think Miss Brown has been colluding with Carmine. I got no sleep last night. I don't mean that I got just a little sleep, or that my sleep was interrupted, or that I could have slept better. I got *no* sleep. Every time I started to drift off, Harriet started kicking me. And not little kicks, either. They hurt! I finally got so disgusted that I shoved her off the bed, but that didn't help, because she just got right back up and kicked me some more. I'm pretty sure I yelled at her, too, which is something I never, ever do. I might feel badly about it, if I weren't so damned tired. I never had to deal with kicks, but when I was a teenager my parents dog usually shared my bed. Sort of. I remember usually waking up at night feeling cramped, finding him sprawled cross the middle of the twin bed, leaving me with only the upper third. A couple of tiems I woke up falling off the bed.Pepsi had a short coat, and I think snuggling next to me to get the warmth meant that ever time I turned in my sleep he moved into the empty space leaving me no room to move back to. If she pulls that crap again tonight, she's going to find out what it's like to spend the night in her crate. |

Harriet is a heat-seeker, too. She's usually not greedy about it, though. And, at night, I make sure she's either under the top blanket/comforter or she's covered with her own blanket. news:2008121020385343658-montana@wildhackcominvalid... And this bothers you? Miss Princess and the Pea? Yes, it bothers me!!! I have two dogs who enjoy jumping on top of me, walking over me, snuggling next to me and pinning me down, using my knees as pillows, sharing my pillow, kissing me, sniffing my hair, etc. etc. Harriet has a routine on sleep-in mornings that involves getting off the bed, staring at me, getting on the bed, staring at me, getting off the bed, staring at me, getting on the bed and standing over my head and staring at me... When I finally get fed up with it, I tell her to get off the bed, and I get up. Alternately, that next-to-last step may involve standing over my head and giving me kisses then sneezing in my face. When I'm trying to sleep, though? She's welcome to *sleep* on the bed. No gymnastics, pleaseandthanks. I'll tuck her up in as many blankets as she wants. She can have pillows, or she can sleep with her head on me. She may not sleep with her head on *my* pillow, though, because that's just asking to wake up wearing a doggie chapeau. Nor is she welcome to sleep or walk on top of me, because that hurts. Nor is she welcome to kick-kick-kick the hell out of me, also onna counta that hurts. I'm happy to report that the kangaroo episode seems to have been an isolated incident. All right, I have to admit the sniffing of the hair thing is relatively new since I quit smoking, but still... At least they don't sneeze in your face. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |
