One of my pet sitting clients boils the water she gives her cats, to
make it easier on their kidneys. I forgot to ask her what, exactly, this is supposed to achieve, kidney-wise. Any ideas? It seems to me that filtering it--which she does *not* do--would be more helpful than boiling, because it would remove some of the heavy metals and minerals. (And presumably, it's not onna counta pathogens, as the humans drink their water unboiled.) -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

If it's municipal water, perhaps it something to do with chlorine content? Or is this well water? Interesting. |

They *do* have filters on the shower heads, so chlorine might be something they're concerned about. In that case, though, why not filter the drinking water, too? -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

Yes, their water is safe, and yes, I would think so. There have been several news stories this year showing that bottled water is often actually dirtier than local water sources...I'm just sayin' |

Aside from it being a pretty much unregulated industry, I think the environmental impact is bad. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |
