I'd originally wanted to try Harriet on Wellness Core, but the store
was out, so I got Super 5 Mix. This time, Core was in stock. Harriet gives it four paws up. I didn't see anything in the ingredients that looked suspicious, so I think she'll be fine on it. I'm just hoping that it does not make her smell like smoked meat. Ugh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp_-l5GCqnA Alsotoo, there's a quick shot of Pandora supervising. She's an insufferable nosypants (aren't all cats?). -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

Harriet sure looks good, she's in great shape and her coat is perfect. Looks like the problems that were plaguing her are a thing of the past. I couldn't believe she didn't rip the bag open and shred it into little tiny bits, scattering saliva soaked paper from one end of the room the to the other. That's how it would have gone down at my house, an event of Olympian proportions. I am always so glad to see Pandora. She is looking feline fine! Karla |

: Harriet sure looks good, she's in great shape and her coat is perfect. Looks like the problems that were plaguing her are a thing of the past. She's much better. I think the Zymox is really helping her ears. Her feet still look a little moth-eaten, but I'm hoping that that's just a matter of waiting until the hair grows back on the chewed bits. She's not chewing at all now, so I think the meds have helped. I'll know for sure after she goes back for her re-test. I couldn't believe she didn't rip the bag open and shred it into little tiny bits, scattering saliva soaked paper from one end of the room the to the other. Heavy-duty plastic! It's more durable than paper. She did eventually manage to tear the bag in half, and there were a couple of small pieces torn off it, but it held up pretty well. That's how it would have gone down at my house, an event of Olympian proportions. BTDT with paper bags. Better yet, with paper dog food bags stuffed with trash. You don't do that too many times before you learn to take the trash out of the house with you when you leave in the morning. Harriet is a very good trainer. I am always so glad to see Pandora. She is looking feline fine! She's sassy! *When* she's awake. Old cats sleep even more than not- old cats, which is kind of amazing. She's all about the food, though, and she's engaged when she's awake, so I think she's doing pretty well, considering. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

You don't do that too many times before you learn to take the trash out of the house with you when you leave in the morning. Harriet is a very good trainer. Muttley is very good about keeping out of where he shouldn't be. I've had his bags of dog food on the floor, and he's never torn into them. Once I found his head stuck into a bag, but he came out with a mouse in this mouth. There was also a bag of trash on the floor that I had forgotten to put outside, and even though it contained some high value goodies, he left it alone. Good Dog! I have a gift basket of assorted cookies, crackers, cheese, and chocolates on a coffee table from Christmas - untouched except by human teeth. I had some dog biscuits in my shirt pocket while I lay in bed with Muttley by my side. He sniffed at them to remind me they were there, so I gave him a piece. He ate that, and I put the rest of them on the night table by the bed. They remained untouched the entire next day until I got home, and as I worked on the computer, he carefully took the biscuits and ate them while I was there. I guess I am just very lucky to have a dog who has such self-restraint. It couldn't possibly be my influence and training, could it? Paul and Muttley |

I like that foil lined bag - maybe we will try it. The recommended by Harriet stamp doesn't hurt. |

He just waited till you got home and then helped himself to the biscuits? If that is the case I don't know if it is your influence and training. Either way it is a good thing and the fact that he didn't get into the garbage that had some tasty morsels in it is a really good thing. I wouldn't put money on it but with my 3 grown up dogs I am guessing they wouldn't get the biscuits off the bedside table or the trash whether I was gone or at home. The puppy is another story the biscuits and the trash would be gone if I was not present, if I was around even she knows better. I do mean right around and very close by like in the same room close by ![]() Good dog Muttley! I'm very lenient with Muttley but I think he knows his limits, and I think when in doubt he will wait until I am there before he will get into anything. Even when he chewed a couple of computer cables some time ago, he did it in my presence and I think it was because they were on the bed where he was lying. Yet he did break open a mousetrap once when I was gone, and I'm sure he would scarf up a plate full of steak if I left it within easy reach, so he's hardly perfect. But in general he is very reliable and he has never been very destructive. Even when he occasionally gets things out of the trash, he somehow fishes them out without tearing the bag. I allow him to lick and chew on such things (if they are not harmful), and he will bring them right past where I am sitting and he does not try to hide the fact that he has found a prize to enjoy. Maybe some would find fault with his behavior, but I think it is OK. Paul and Muttley |

"Paul E. Schoen" wrote in message ... snip of Paul's description of Muttley cruising the garbage .. Maybe some would find fault with his behavior, Oh, dear... Paul, why on earth would you give Muttley permission to use the garbage as a buffet? Even if he's nice enough not to trash the bag, how do you know he won't choose the wrong "snack", or won't eat something that's dangerous or poisonous? And not destructive? He chewed up cables, while on your bed, while you watched?? What the hell? He stole cookies from your bedside, and since you were home, that made it OK? You have a very skewed view, Paul. I sure hope Muttley doesn't chew up a light bulb or some such thing in his next sanctioned garbage raid. You know, funny thing, most sensible people would put the garbage out of reach of a cruising dog. But from I understand about you, that's just too much like work, isn't it? And before you say you trust Muttley to make the right decisions about what to eat out of the garbage, he's a dog. He shouldn't make that decision. He can't. He's a dog. -- Phyrie Kiba the Cav's Pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phyrie/...758930/detail/ |

Hmmm, I think I'm going to follow your lead and give Jake, the Dal, the next empty plastic bag and see what he can do with it. That should be good fun. She's sassy! *When* she's awake. That is excellent. My two will be eighteen in March and they are starting to get picky about eating. I have to switch foods around quite a bit to keep them interested. If you don't mind my asking, what do you feed Pandora? Do you give her any supplements? Mine are still playful occasionally, revving up and racing across the house, jumping on the backs of chairs and beating them up. I love to see that. They are still grooming themselves thoroughly, and they love to be brushed. I adopted a little tortie girl that my neighbors abandoned. She's a very sweet cat, and has fit in seamlessly. I think she's been good for the oldsters, added some interest. Karla |
