That is because carbs are addictive.

Exactly how does that work in cats? Anyway, your lack of self control has
nothing to do with other people, much less cats and dogs.

Taurine is one of the most important amino acids that is in meat but
is not in plants. Taurine deficiency will cause blindness and heart
problems in cats.

Cats go blind from taurine deficiency, not from eating carbs.

Oh lord, that reminds me of this big oafish dog we had XXX years ago. My
cousin had spent 10+ hours decorated an R2D2 birthday cake for my son.
(That's how long ago it was...) I put the cake on the chest freezer in the
kitchen, pushed to the back. I got up in the morning of the boy's party....
The dog had LICKED half the cake off the board..... You could see his
tongue marks where he R E A C H E D for more cake... My cousin was
devastated. My son cried. We served Sara Lee.

BTW, I'm reading your website and it says you crate the one dog all
day. I don't feel that is a good thing for any dog, especially one
that has had such a bad life. Get on with allowing her to have more
freedom if you can't be around to let her out every few hours.

Gosh, we haven't crated Dakota for months. We broke her of that
awhile back. I actually wrote a very in depth article on how we did
it.

http://www.squidoo.com/doghomealone

She's doing fantastic, too! She was such a challenge that I wrote
several articles on how we retrained her. Some things go with the
expert advice, some we went against it. If you go to the above
article at the bottom it links to all the rest of them. Most of the
photos of her were taken not long after we adopted her, she was pretty
thin. If you look at the last one or two articles you can see how she
filled out eating our carrots and cabbage and kibbles (grin).

I am incredibly proud of her. She's still a brat and she still does
have a few unresolved issues, but she's made incredible progress and
just the thought of leaving her home, uncrated, for hours, is amazing
to me after her very bad beginnings with us.

Oh dear... two years ago during one of my trips to NYC, I trekked down to
the village and stood in line for the most incredible cupcakes.
Painstakingly carried the box of 6 yummies back to the hotel, to the
airport, on the airplane and home. Husband and I had ours that night but
saved the others for the kids for the next day. That morning we found the
dog with almost a guilty grin, licking his chops next to the empty box on
the floor.

That was an expensive treat.

And it was raw.

As human we also eat a lots of foods...but animals quite sensitive,
perhaps their antibodies not that strong. You dog's diet currently ok
but need to be careful also because sometimes the food is good for us
but poison for him. As long as you remember this things...your dog
will fit and fine.

* Milk is neither a balanced diet for dog nor it should be taken
as a substitute for water. Over consumption of milk may even cause
diarrhea.
* Raw eggs make biotin unavailable for dog's body and thus
consistent use of raw eggs may cause dermatitis, loss of hair, and
poor growth in your canine pet.
* Some species of raw fish may cause deficiency of vitamin
thiamine in dog's body resulting in loss of appetite, abnormal
posture, weakness, seizures and even death.
* Table scraps are not enough for dogs and should only be fed as
10 percent of the canine's daily diet.
* Meat is palatable to dogs but it is not balanced in nutrition
too. Raw meats may cause infections while cooked meats can be high in
fat content. Raw liver fed daily, even with balanced and complete
diet, can cause vitamin A toxicity in dogs.
* Small soft bones may choke the dog like a splinter.
* Daily intake of complete and balanced food nearly eliminates the
need of taking supplements. Special nutrition needs occur only if the
dog gets inconsistent exercise, is fed on table scraps or is faced
with stressful changes in routine.
* A sycophant dog is hard to refuse but overeating may cause
several problems such as obesity and depression in dogs.
* Feed your pet at regular intervals and scheduled timings and
enough only to keep it in good body condition.
* Use only dog treats and regulate the dog's diet according to the
treats you have offered him to keep the static calorie balance.
* Commercial dog foods normally pack in the complete and balanced
pet foods to providing optimum nutrition for our dogs.
* Additional calcium is preferable in the diet of pregnant and
nursing females and growing puppies and kittens.
* Remember, chocolates are toxic to dogs.

Though, you may feed the dog most expensive of all dog foods, they may
still be deficient in nourishment or get obese and may need weight

Must've been from Magnolia Bakery.

Anytime you need a refill, just let me know.
They did me the grave disservice of opening a
location about three blocks from my apartment ;-)

Seriously, if I could just buy the frosting by the bucket and eat it on the
plane.....
