Okay, so hopefully you can actually SEE the little snot.
I have a few videos from last weekend's runs in St. Louis. Indoors on dirt (duh). We didn't qualify, but I am SO thrilled with his increase in focus. We obviously have some front cross work to do as well as weave work. I would have an AXJ this week if Zipper had done his weaves. Oh well, gives me something to work on this spring! Judges were Kim Crenshaw and Lavonda Herring, and I have to say the courses were tough all weekend. Lots of zig-zagging. ExA JWW on Friday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEc8Wly49Ks ExA Std on Sunday with Zipper's first ever lead out, even though it was just a couple of steps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Drdemb6hsms ExA JWW Sunday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjpS0CpXBVI |

rec.pets.dogs.behavior: I hate front crosses... which is why I'm already working at teaching Cen to switch & blind. Blind crosses seem to be making a comeback in North America - those are all I used to do 10 years ago. Now I do predominately rear crosses (switch, I guess, though I don't put a verbal on them) which are the best for me for dogs which like to work ahead. Well executed front crosses are wonderful things, which is why I still work on them. When it comes down to basics, steering from the front is pretty reliable. -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

Part of it is that I'm late. Part is, I think, because I tend to get vertigo fairly easily and have a horrible time reconnecting with myself and the dog. I'm going to take some lessons from a new guy soon though, and we'll see if he can improve them. Oh and the secret to my rears are verbal directionals. He's getting very good at them! Ah, weaves in teh MUD. Nope. Indoor building on lovely 3/4" rubber flooring. But it's not heated in the winter and I will not work little naked dog in temps less than 25 or so. |
