I'm sorry, I read your story. Your dogs were responsibly in your yard.
Your fence wasn't high enough. You felt confident you had due care. The out
of control dogs jumped the fence.

How sad. I hope you got the owner on charges and his dogs are destroyed as
dangerous dogs. At least the dog that jumped the fence. It does not sound
as if the other dog did anything wrong other than the owner was careless
and irresponsible.

Anyway, on the Iditarod Facebook group someone asked why
they don't use huskies anymore, referring to Siberians, and
someone who lives in like Philadelphia or Boston or
something said she heard that Siberians are too big. And
then there were all these followups with people repeating
that Siberians are bigger than Alaskans, which they're not.
But people just say stuff and then a bunch of people repeat
it without wondering where it came from, like that guy in
..health who thinks the animal rights movement knows more
about distance sleddog racing than a vet and nutritionist
who's been a veterinary volunteer and racer himself. People
just say stuff and other people just accept it without
thinking too deeply about what they just heard. It's not
good.

Mine are too. Why, just last week Mukluk killed a squirrel. Took him
so long I thought it was going to die of old age, and I swear I could
hear Tasha laughing...

Dogs have instincts. People who own them need to be aware of that and
train and manage appropriately.

Where did you get this "fact"? No dog is a killing machine. Dogs and
responsible ownership of such are the issue, not breed. I'm sorry for
your loss, but you're way off the mark here. As a dog owner, it is sad
that you don't care about ALL dogs.
