Wow, dude. Love that fact-based argumentation. Really
compelling. I'm sure that you've swayed lots and lots and
lots of people with your acuity and command of the facts.
You're doing your issue a lot of damage^H^H^H^H^H^Hcredit.

Well, to be clear, 1) a few years ago Ramy Brooks was seen
smacking his dogs with a lath, and he was punished (and
*boy* have the animal rights wackos been making hay out of
that one incident), 2) some dogs have died during the race
but not more than would have died not in the race (i.e. the
number is consistent with dog mortality statistics among the
pet dog population), and 3) these jackasses are
anthropomorphizing the dogs. *No surprises there, but the
animals rights crowd typically doesn't know that much about
animals, ironically, and so they're not familiar with
ongoing research into what *actually* happens to sleddogs'
bodies over long distances.

I should have been clearer, as well. *I know that there have been some
deaths, and that there has been abuse which was dealt with. *I said
"the cruelty, suffering and dying you speak of", meaning that the type
of stuffReginaldis alleging doesn't happen.

Oh those animal rights wackos! should shoot em all! Of course these
things dont happen and anyone who would say they do is crazy!!
Oh dear, you guys really need more human socialization. You have your
group of "dog people" who like yourself lack any sense of reality and
in order to make you believe you are normal you even add signatures
stating such?? I meet people like you at the dog parks , you huddle
together talk about nothing but dogs yet really do not care about your
dogs you vicariously live through to make up for your own
shortcomings, you are such social misfits that anyone not a part of
your group is "crazy". If you at least showed decency towards the
animals it would not be so bad but you are cruel sick people. I
realize you probably do not know any better because your folks and
their folks were like that but if you really wanted to you could
change. You do not always have to vote Republican or democrat just
because your parents did. Try to look at things a bit differently, try
to get out and socialize a bit it can only help you and your dogs

THANK YOU, Reginald {}'; ~ )

Well, thanks for playing, but a) I never said you were crazy, b) you'd
never meet me at a dog park, and c) I don't vote Republican like my
parents do.

Oh dear you guys really are thick. I posted a link which gives many
references to your favorite race. Regardless you should not need
references? Use your common sense. You can jump off Niagra falls if
you like since it must be safe because some people have survived doing
that, you want references? You just want to argue because you are
lonely, and though it pains me that I can not always be here to
respond to your cries for help hopefully this should keep you going
for the weekend?
You can talk about the merits of beating your hound with a stick and
i will respond to that next week if that turns your crank?
I have a young dog to train. Have a nice weekend!

It's actually not my favorite race. My guess is that you
putzes aren't sufficiently familiar with mushing to be able
to name other races - in other words, you're uninformed
about competitive mushing (or mushing at all). All you know
about mushing is what you learned from the animal rights
movement. A musher ran the Yukon Quest (HUH? WUZZAT??)
this year because she had doubts about competitive distance
mushing and wanted to see for herself. So, she did the 1000
miles through the Yukon and interior Alaska and left the
race still undecided. *That*'s how someone with guts tries
to get questions answered, but that takes time and effort
and personal courage.

At any rate, that website you rely on for your information
and the wacko who run it have been around forever. The
original source of "information" was a USA Today reporter
(Joe Saraceno) who went up to cover the race, watched 1/2
hour of the ceremonial start before getting cold and going
back to his hotel room, and who never went out for the real
start or to the checkpoints. That is to say, he has zero
first-hand experience of the race. Saraceno's been
discredited, what he's written has been discredited, Crazy
Marge has been discredited, and you're uncritically
repeating them because you're too freakin' lazy to find out
the truth.
