Default Rottie update

For anyone curious about the rottie I mentioned in an earlier thread...

The family saw the vet I recommended and found out the dog is overweight
on top of everything else. Hearing a professional tell them that the
training method they were using is counterproductive seems to have helped
a lot as well.

So, they have agreed to give the dog a second chance. The vet gave them
a diet and exercise plan for the dog, which they have promised to stick
to. I talked to them about his behavior issues and possible solutions
from my limited knowledge, and said I'd be on the look out for good
starter books.

Here's hoping things improve for all involved!

That ought to be a good start on a lot of issues.

I really think the Celebrity Edition Cesar Millan DVD is a good place to
start. I found it at the library and it was very interesting and well
presented. Of course there are the disclaimers about not trying the
techniques at home without professional help, but it might instill some
sense of confidence that a difficult dog and clueless owners can be trained
successfully.

Here's wishing them well, and Happy Easter!

Paul and Muttley
