When I was in graduate school I picked up some extra money writing some device drivers for the pathology lab at the university hospital, and one afternoon I heard some odd noises behind me and turned around to see a technician popping the heads off the necks of a large number of rats. He was very fast. SHe has a whole ground mouse product....but somehow I doubt she's offing them that way. |

They use it in some labs at the university for their mice, but some researchers have completely banned in their labs*, in favour of cervical dislocation as they don't feel that CO2 is a good way to do it (cervical dislocation takes more skill, and more time to do, but they feel that it is a much more humane way to go when its done properly). I've only seen cervical dislocation used in the mouse/rat labs I'm familiar with. Suja |

It means pretty much the same thing, and your plagiarized text is factually incorrect. Plagiarism, as defined in the 1995 Random House Compact Unabridged Dictionary, is the "use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work. I've never pretended in any way that those were my words. Indeed, since I post the links to most of what I quote it could never be plagiarism. Moron. |

Be that as it may, you're wrong and the author whose work you stole was wrong - the same criteria are used for "organic" labels on human consumables, animal consumables, and non-consumables under USDA guidelines. And that's a fact. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

Fercrissakes! Chard, when you don't indicate, in any way, shape or form, that the text you're writing is indeed someone else's words, how the hell would anyone know? You don't use quotation marks, you don't use angle brackets, you don't give credit, nothing. Just lines and lines of text, sometimes followed by a link, which people don't always follow, and you don't indicate WITH CREDIT that the original article is at the end of link. It LOOKS like you've written these posts yourself. If you refuse to attribute, how can you fault anyone for thinking you A) Wrote it or B) Stole it and are taking credit for it?? Even just adding a "So and so wrote in his article this:" before you cut and paste all your crapulence would save you a lot of heartache, misunderstandings and threats of lawsuits. I won't comment on the content of said crapulence as others here can do a much better job than me, but at least try to give credit for it from now on, and you won't look quite as stupid as you do now. -- Phyrie Kiba the Cav's Pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phyrie/...758930/detail/ |

Providing a link is a way of indicating that it was the source of the text. You don't use quotation marks, you don't use angle brackets, you don't give credit, nothing. Just lines and lines of text, sometimes followed by a link, which people don't always follow, Then it's the fault of those who don't follow it, not me. If you don't like it don't read my posts. I'm not bound by you or anyone to use correct grammar or attribute text exactly like *you* want it done. Can't you find something legitimate to moan about? |
