Hi, I figured I should write an intro. I'm Jasi, and this is Musi:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2023/...284761d21d.jpg

She's a five year old spayed Shar Pei, a breeder rehome. Before I met
her, she was supposed to be a show dog. Unfortunately, she didn't care
for the ring (or the judge touching her feet). Apparently this made her
less valuable in her previous home. When pack dynamics kicked in
(multiple intact female Shar Pei in one house!), she got a new home.
Lucky for me, I guess, now she's a happy pet, and I'm a happy Shar-Pei
mom. She's pretty well behaved, but I can't take much credit for it,
she just has an easy going personality. Unless you mess with her feet.

Welcome - I hope you'll hang around, Shar Pei are interesting
dogs. My three dogs are haphazardly chronicled at

What a handsome girl! And welcome to both of you.

I'm Sarah; I live in Maryland, and have 2 dogs and 2 cats - all males. My
dogs are Brenin, who's 14 years old, Redbone Coonhound x Chow mix, and Cenau
Goch, who's around 3, Jack Russell x Zwergpinscher (Mini Pinscher). Cats
are Gwydion, 12-year old tabby-and-white, and Robyn, who's a Sealpoint
Siamese, somewhere around 9 years. The dogs and Gwy are shelter adoptees,
Robyn's a foundling (somebody dumped him on the streets when he was a bit
under a year old).

I'm Janet and live in Maryland and have never actually MET Sarah, for
some odd reason (as the crow flies, maybe 20 miles apart?!?!?)!

3 dogs, 1 cat. Dogs are Lucy - 12 year old lab/gsd mix (shelter adoptee
at 2), Rudy - 3 year old Golden Retriever (shelter reject and foster
failure at 5 months), and Marcie - 18 mo old Flatcoated Retriever
(carefully chosen puppy). Skipjack (blue tabby with subtle white
striping and white paws and tummy) the cat rounds out the crew, he's 7
and adopted as a shelter kitten.

So, welcome!

It is surprising our paths have never crossed when you consider how many
mutual acquaintences we have via flyball/agility and your training classes
(including one other "regular" here g).

(as the crow flies, maybe 20 miles apart?!?!?)!

Something like that.

I guess this is the time for general introductions. I'm Biill and live
in New Mexico. I love the looks of your Sharpei. I have two dogs: Peanut
a generic yellow mix, and Smoky (probably) a Lab/Weimaraner mix. I also
have a cat, Aria, a yellow (red) tabby that is still adjusting to her
new life with dogs. My two daughters are involved with 4H dog training,
though that should change for my oldest when she goes to college next
year. I volunteer at a local small shlter, where I mostly work at
sociaslizing dogs.

FWIW the closest regular poster to me is Furpaw, who I hope will
continue to post in spite of her recent loss. I have also (probably)
never met Furpaw although we are probably less than ten miles apart.

Hi there,
I'm Phyrie, and my husband and I live on a small island off the west coast
of BC, Canada. My dog is Kiba, a two year old Blenheim Cavalier King
Charles Spaniel, who is recovering from knee surgery. We had the stitches
out today.
We also have an eight year old black and gold tabby cat named Spyder who
hates Kiba with all the wrath a cat can muster. Which is an amazing amount
of wrath.
We keep hoping she will get used to him. She is not still actively plotting
his death, so we have made progress.

That is a lot of wrath, isn't it? Cats are pretty amazing creatures.
The fact that they allow us to pretend we own them is incredible.

Musi admires cats from a distance. She whines and chirps and chatters
and runs in circles next to the window whenever they dare to come into
her field of vision. She's only met one once. We were visiting my
parents, when their cantankerous orange tabby wandered into to the room
to see who had invaded her home. Musi got one look at her and the chase
was on. It didn't last long. Tabby turned around, Musi got a swipe on
the nose, and ran away and hid. Now she prefers to admire cats from the
window. She'll give chase if one comes in the yard, but she doesn't run
after it very fast for some reason. I guess that's a good thing.

Oh, yes... I find it amazing that the delightful little kitten we brought
home, who's never given us a moment's concern (except for murderlizing a
bunch of starlings and leaving that wierd birdy bit they won't eat on the
porch, right where you want to step) turned into Kitty Kujo when I brought a
thoroughly delightful puppy home two years ago.
She was so incensed she didn't come in the house for a year. When she did
condescend to enter, puppy better watch out! She would lie in wait, and
when Kiba walked by, she would slash out at him. She became Kommando Kitty.
I'm sure she really was trying to hurt him. He wanted her to like him SO
BAD!! He would play bow, bark, circle madly, jump towards her and retreat,
all perfectly nice puppy invitations to play, but to Spyder, it only enraged
her more.
The only reason she shows her face now is our winter was sooo cold, she was
forced to come inside. She had to learn to at least stop plotting Puppy
Doom, or she wouldn't have been welcome back in. So she is actually
tolerating Kiba a bit. She has sniffed his head, when he's sleeping, and my
husband has had them both on the couch at the same time, one on one side of
his body, and one on the other. I think that she really may come around, if
she lives long enough! But she goes out of her way to be nasty, even when
Kiba is ignoring her. Which we won't tolerate. If he was still being
obnoxious, sure, let him know it's not cool, but now that he's older, she's
going to have to smarten up, or be doomed to live outside. Which would
suck.

Kiba has suffered more than one swat in the head, too. He had a wound on
his back a few months ago that we're pretty sure was kitty caused, but we
can't prove it, as we didn't see it.

Kathleen.

I've got Scully, an 8 year old female BC , Zane, a 7 year old male BC
and Cooper, a 7 year old male JRT, all of whom play flyball.

My daughter and her boyfriend recently adopted a rescued male BC puppy,
approximate age 14 weeks, who has been dubbed "Floyd". He will learn
flyball eventually but requires an inguinal hernia repair first, which
will be done on the 28th of this month.
