As you can see, if you don't eliminate the source it won't stay away.
It's probably something you are feeding her, like grain.

she is grain free

Chard is Brains free.

Make that what does Khan have? Atypical Cushing's.

Hannah has never been the healthiest dog.

Khan's been a weird dog, health-wise. It's not that he's unhealthy, it's
just that when something goes wrong, there is never a black and white
answer.

BTW - are you asserting that it's a fact that colloidal
silver will clear up the infection? *That's how you've
framed it ("all she needs").

Thanks for the helpful well informed post Melinda.
Are you ten years old?
A ten year old should not be so miserable?
Jerry is right, you really are a mental case.
What drugs are you taking to be part of the "reality based community"?
They got you believing that your are sane now? Too many of you drugged
up, emotionally scarred, pharmaceutical addicted people on this news
group ( or are they all you?)
Maybe you should switch to Valerian root and get off the toxic stuff
that is making your brain turn to mush. Or maybe a marijuana cigarette
and a watercress sandwich, wont hurt your brain anymore than the
current toxic regime you are on.
Or better yet just learn to do some breathing exercises and stop
posting your non stop negativity.

So how's my butt smell? Like it? Like it a *lot*?? You
sure do seem to be attached to the smell of my butt.
Interesting little fetish you've got going there, and thank
you SO much for parading it around in public.

Hannah has something going on. she was on some very expensive doggy
specific antibiotic (a large brown chewable tablet) for two weeks.
the UTI came back almost immediately (testing positive for both white
and red cells) so we put her on FOUR MORE weeks of said expensive
drug.

Can you give a little more detail here -- was it only the red and white
cells that indicated the UTI or did you find an actual causitive agent?

Our next step according to our very new young vet (first year out but
with a very old established practice) is to sedate her, scope her, do
a clean catch and figure out what's going on....

Hmmmm... This wouldn't be my next step. To scope her, basically they push a
camera up there, and have a look around. Very cool procedure, but I would
doubt you're at that point yet. As others have said, needle in the bladder
(cystocentisis) is less invasive, and will definitely give you more
information than you have right now (although you'll get more information
from the cystoscopy).

Basically what you're looking for with the 'needle in the bladder' is the
causitive agent. You culture the pee, and see what you can grow from it.
When you've got a sample of the causitive agent, you can see what can kill
it.

With the camera going up there, what you're looking for is some kind of
mechanical problem (a stone or stricture, etc). Which might not show up
otherwise. The advantage of this, is sometimes you can remove the thing that
is causing the problem this way.

I'd chat with her, and try to get her to share her thinking a little bit
with you. What she's looking for and why.

Best of luck!

Dale

Great! That is the most common source but far from the only one.

So what is she eating?

Not sure. I saw her three tests today... each one a bit better than
that last. the first test she was really positive on everything
the second test a bit better
today she had trace blood
and low levels of leucocytes (sp?)

I like the young vet. I told her today that I thought we could try
the 'needle in the bladder' and if asked if she would mind asking the
other vet what she thought (she did not mind)

she seemed nervous about it but I think Hannah was a good patient for
her to do it on (if it was her first out of vet school I would not be
surprised) and she got a good sample. she also drew blood...

now we are testing her for all the blood issues (such as thyroid blood
sugar and her PKB levels (which are due) etc)
she sent us home with another week of the bactryl (I think that's the
name) to hold us till the culture grows....
her urine did not indicate sugar.

Best of luck!

thanks

and thanks to everyone else for the very helpful and supportive
suggestions.

Nessa
