Thanks for the helpful well informed post Melinda.

So how's my butt smell? *Like it? *Like it a *lot*?? *You
sure do seem to be attached to the smell of my butt.
Interesting little fetish you've got going there, and thank
you SO much for parading it around in public. *

What is wrong with you?
Oh yeah sorry, medications.
Better double the dose!

Your butt probably smells like the rest of your body. Horribly, due
to a lot of nervous perspiration due to some kind of mental anxiety
problem. Probably from the male teacher or male authority figure-
possibly even a family member- who touched you when you were young
making you into what you are today ( i can only imagine it was a
terrible thing and I am not making fun of it) but maybe you should be
directing your aggressions towards people like that instead of
becoming like that. But keep up with the helpful posts. I assume they
are the only thing keeping you from beating animals or whatever you
normally do to make you feel "real"? You are not even a real lesbian.

Yes, you are, and that puts you into Paul's league. People who make
light of incest and/or sexual abuse are somewhere waaaaaay down there
below the level of pond scum.

But keep up with the helpful posts.

This is so ironic coming from you. Please point me to your most
recent helpful (or even coherent) post.

What is a real lesbian? What is an unreal lesbian? What is the
connection between sexual orientation and a dog health newsgroup?

You big strong amazon woman!

Actually, she's really not big at all.

As you can see, if you don't eliminate the source it won't stay away.
It's probably something you are feeding her, like grain.

she is grain free

Great! That is the most common source but far from the only one.

So what is she eating?

salmon, sweet potato, veggies, beef tracheas for her treats...

Can you give a little more detail here -- was it only the red and white
cells that indicated the UTI or did you find an actual causitive agent?

Not sure. I saw her three tests today... each one a bit better than
that last. the first test she was really positive on everything
the second test a bit better
today she had trace blood
and low levels of leucocytes (sp?)

Were these urine sticks? Or did they look under a microscope? Or something
else.

Sometimes the sticks aren't totally accurate (cat pee for example will very
often (nearly always) show a high level of leukocytes). Things tend to be a
little more accurate for canine urine, but I've heard of(although not seen)
some odd results (always best to confirm by centrifugation, and looking at
the sediment). I've not seen any sticks that were specifically designed for
canine/feline urine (most are human), which is what explains the odd
readings sometimes. I'm not saying this isn't a UTI, but just that I'd be
confirming the result under the microscope if it were me. (this will also be
a reasonable test for crystals, although it isn't 100% sensitive)

I like the young vet. I told her today that I thought we could try
the 'needle in the bladder' and if asked if she would mind asking the
other vet what she thought (she did not mind)

I'm glad you like the young vet (I'm going to be a young vet myself 3 years
from now ).

she seemed nervous about it but I think Hannah was a good patient for
her to do it on (if it was her first out of vet school I would not be
surprised) and she got a good sample. she also drew blood...

I've done a cysto on a cat before, but someone pointed out the bladder for
me. I like to think I could do it on my own should the need arise (although
I've not officially been taught how to do it).

now we are testing her for all the blood issues (such as thyroid blood
sugar and her PKB levels (which are due) etc)
she sent us home with another week of the bactryl (I think that's the
name) to hold us till the culture grows....
her urine did not indicate sugar.

Was it Baytril?

Best of luck and let us know what you find.

Dale

All she needs is some colloidal silver to fix her up.

BTW - are you asserting that it's a fact that colloidal
silver will clear up the infection? That's how you've
framed it ("all she needs").

Or inflammation of the uterine lining?

Or tumors on the bladder walls?

Or behavioral issues related to stress
drinking and subsequent urination?

There are just some things that it could be
off the top of my head.

I had NO IDEA that colloidal silver cured
tumors! Or was an anti-inflammatory!

Its a frigging miracle cure!

(wow, just wow. I can't believe she hasn't
killed a dog yet....but then we don't really
know for sure that she hasn't)

I'm guilty of not thoroughly reading all the posts. But has an x-ray done
with contrast yet?

chard's post was characteristically incoherent. She said
that colloidal silver was all that would be needed to clear
up the UTI but then later she said that they needed to deal
with the source of the infection. But then she said that
feeding kibble *was* the source of the infection, and
basically it's life as usual in Babbleonia.

(wow, just wow. I can't believe she hasn't
killed a dog yet....but then we don't really
know for sure that she hasn't)

I think she has, or rather that she's shortened some dogs'
lives. I also think she's currently dogless - she never,
ever posts about actually owning a dog. Who knows - maybe
AC stepped in, maybe she's been enjoined by the courts from
owning a dog, maybe she's posting from inside an
institution, or maybe she's 9 years old. No way of knowing
what's going on for sure, but the outward indicators aren't
good.

no not yet BUT based on what I saw today of her tests she has improved
over time and the current infection is quite minimal.

we were able to get a clean catch and that is being sent for culture.

so we will know more in a week or so.

meanwhile we were given another week of the antibiotic to keep her
comfortable until the culture returns and then we make a decision.

I just can't imagine that a dog can get to age 7 without ever having a
UTI and now suddenly gets such a severe one.

Truthfully Hannah has been physically in bad shape since Bagel died.
she's never been the same dog...

That happened with Crow - turned out to be a bladder stone.
Persistent UTI, responded to antibiotics but came back as
soon as she went off, blood in her pee, etc. It happens,
and 7 isn't a spring chicken for a big dog.
