Default Tee-vee training

Well, I watched my first (maybe last) episode of VS' show today. Such
freakin' drama! The same weepy and horrified acting that she exhibited
on "Greatest American Dog" was what it was all about. That's after she
allowed the dogs to blast out the door past her, risking their lives,
for the sake of drama. Didn't someone said she would never put dogs at
risk or harm?

Oh well. I don't watch CM (but have seen a handful of episodes) and
won't be watching VS (now that I know when it's on, I may turn it on if
convenient, to see if she's less of a drama queen on other episodes).

I love observing other people train, but I think I'll stick to real
life. Unedited is so much more honest.

I never saw Victoria Stillwell's training programs. I guess not having
Cable or sattelite has a lot to do with that.

But after seeing her on Greatest American Dog, I can honestly say I don't
care to. She's an utterly disgusting individual. I can see why Paully
likes her so much.

Gee, there's a shock, Janet doesn't like a positive trainer, lol.

It has nothing to do with "positive" (which is such a bizarre and bs
term anyway). I find her theatrics irritating. Did you think it was a
good idea for her to stand and shake her head and look sad instead of
trying to grab the dogs racing out the door past her? All for the sake
of "drama tv". I don't like the drama on CM's show either. As I said,
TV dog training is far too edited to be of much use IMO.

As opposed to your very neutral opinion, eh?

Who were the dogs, maybe I can remember the episode. It's on re-runs
right now so they aren't being recorded. I don't recall any episode
where she stood there and just watched dogs run out the door. Positive
reinforcement training is a bizarre and bs term? ROFL! I guess to you
it is.

There were 3 dogs in the household but it was the 2 young yellow labs
who were the "problem". You must not watch very closely.

I don't know a single trainer who doesn't use positive reinforcement, so
yes, it is a bs term.

Three dogs in the household doesn't tell me much about trying to
remember that episode. I haven't watched her show in a while because
it's on re-runs right now. I DVR the show to watch when I have time,
but only have it set to record new episodes. So sorry, if saying three
dogs in the household doesn't jog my memory.

Again, I'm not surprise you find positive reinforcement a bs term,
lol.

Besides which, Lauralyn didn't say that. She said, "gee, Janet doesn't
like a positive trainer." Not "Janet doesn't like a trainer who uses
positive reinforcement."

It's ridiculous to say that Janet doesn't like a positive [sic] trainer
since she herself does use many methods that are "positive."

As for "positive reinforcement," we've got a whole nother section in
another thread talking about how people misuse that term, as Lauralyn
has just misused it.
