Frontline Plus is about as effective against ticks as Frontline is, and both my dogs have come up Lyme positive while on it. Suja On the farm ticks are a major. I am in NZ. Dogs can get lyme from one bite from a tick it takes frontline plus a few bites to not like the taste and let go. Frontline (not plus) was up untill 2 years ago was for the control of fleas. Then frontline plus came on the market which inclueded tick control and cost 20% more frontline non plus was fased out. Do you really think the company makes completely different products for different countries and markets them under the same name? Frontline killed fleas and ticks. Frontline Plus includes an insect growth regulator for flea eggs and larvae. |

Where do you come up with this stuff? Ticks don't leave the dog because they don't like the taste. Frontline (and Frontline Plus) has a neurotoxin that is absorbed through the flea/tick's surface, and causes paralysis and death. Frontline and Frontline Plus contain fipronil, which is a neurotoxin for invertebrates, and causes both ticks and fleas to die. Frontline Plus has an added ingredient Methoprene (similar to juvenile hormone of fleas), which kills flea eggs and larvae. It has NO effect on ticks. Maybe regular Frontline was phased out in NZ, but it is still available in other parts of the world.
