Default Phycox - Opinions?

Has anyone used Phycox for their older/arthritic dogs? It's a cox-2
inhibitor, and the vet mentioned it as a potential candidate for Khan as it
does not have the same sort of long term kidney/liver side effects as others
of its ilk. It's available online, and the reviews on Amazon are glowing.

Never heard of it - is it relatively new? Expensive (compared to the
other cox-2s)? I have a couple of possible candidates for it too.

According to the vet, it is relatively new. I have no experience with other
Cox-2s, but this one, I'm getting 120 tabs for ~40 bucks - dosage
instructions call for 4 tabs for a dog 61 - 100 lbs, so that's a month long
supply for Khan.

Sounds pretty reasonable, will have to ask vet (new traveling vet who
comes to house!) Mukluk is roaring at the other dogs so much it
sounds like we have a bear, and I am sure part of it is that he's
achy. I've hesitated to put him on anything because he's got early
kidney issues (don't they all, at 15 or 16) but he seems to think he's
going to live for years yet, so I'd like him to be more comfortable.

I hope it turns out to be a good option for him.

I've started Khan on DGP per Robin N and the holistic vet, but so far, no
change. I am scrutinizing every little thing, and he is definitely dragging
his left hind a little. It's only been a couple of days, so hopefully this
will work and I'll start noticing an improvement soon.

I've started both Muks and our Robin (whippet) on DGP also and no
change here either. Robin was just found to have a grade IV/VI heart
murmur and echocardiogram showed severely deteriorated heart valves.
It's progressive, but nothing can be done until the valves cause
enlargement of the heart, which can be treated with meds. Don't know
whether his heart or his back end will do him in first.

I use PhyCox on my 150 Mastiff and he loves the pills and seems to be
hleping his hip pain... still lipms slightly. ( took about 4 weeks at
a high dosage to kick in 100% and now we are gonna cut him back to the
maintinance dosage.
