Maybe's spay went well yesterday - she's acting kind of
tentative, which is good thing to do when healing, I think. Not her regular "balls to the walls" attitude. She gets chicken for dinner. I also had her hips checked for OFA submission, checking the box that said the result would be submitted even if it wasn't good. The vet told me that, in his opinion, Maybe's hips looked good. Does anyone know how long it'll take for official OFA results to make it back to me? -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

rec.pets.dogs.health: Wishing comfortable and fast healing for Maybe. She has officially bounced back as of today. No cone, no licking. I hope I'm not getting ahead of myself, but she seems to be a good healer. -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

She slept it off day two (they kept her overnight) on my bed. We did the requisite leash walks only period, which annoyed her a bit of course, but we never needed a cone or any other restriction. The only problem we had was with pain meds. Stopped them immediately when they made her pretty explosive. -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |

I have to say that I've never had post-surgery issues with any of my dogs, other than their lack of interest in staying sedentary. No chewing, licking, messing with the sutures, etc. I know it happens but I wonder how common it is in reality. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

She despises the "cone of shame" and will barely move with it, but if I leave her out of it even for two minutes she will get the wound open. I swear she just slashes at them with her teeth. And since she has always been accident prone, it's been an issue. |

Hope Maybe sails right through.
Bella wanted to stay on her pillow in her crate and she seemed to appreciate the pain meds for a few days. She gave us dirty looks and was apparently uncomfortable. We did her spay as early as we could, so I'm sure that makes a huge difference in recovery... |
