We found girl-dog today. It was so hard to choose among all the
dogs at the shelter, but I had a thin-slice moment with her. She was in a kennel with a 14 week-old pup, who was harassing her, and then snapping and snarling at her when she walked near his food dish. (Bratty, but a spunky little devil, too - he was about 1/3 her size.) Girl-dog didn't seem perturbed; she play-bowed, and then she gently placed her paw on his back, trying again to entice him to play. He wanted to continue barking and snarling over the food, so she just turned around, saw us at the gate, and walked over to offer a sniff and a few finger kissies. She had me with that gently-placed paw. She's a Lab mix, about 40 lb, short hair, cream with a dark snout, about 1 year old. Seems very calm and gentle, likes having her tummy scritched, knows how to fetch and lean into a leg for a pet. The folks at the shelter know nothing about her; she was picked up running loose and held for 2 weeks, but no one claimed her, so she became available last Sunday. She will be spayed Friday morning, and we will pick her up Friday afternoon. One dog-sized hole in our home will soon be filled :-D . Now, for a name... Suggestions? FurPaw -- Don't believe everything that you think. To reply, unleash the dog. |

Marlo or Marla. Female variations on Marley. I saw the movie a few weeks ago. The book was better. Please post pictures! Easier to name by seeing the dog. Sounds like a great pooch. I like leaners - that's one of the things that made Cinder stand out. In those rare occasions I've gotten dogs without names (or with names that need to have something done about) I've waited to get to know the dog. It's been my experience that it becomes obvious. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

I've never named a dog, so alas no. (They all came with perfectly good names, and it didn't seem necessary to change them!) -- Kevin Michael Vail | Dogbert: That's circular reasoning. * | Dilbert: I prefer to think of it as no loose ends. |

The times I've been at Santa Fe they haven't doubled up. (Bratty, but a spunky little devil, too - he was about 1/3 her size.) I half expected you to choose something smaller this go round, but once a lab lover always a lab lover. Sounds calmer than our current lab mixes. (Though we had two older and calmer lab crosses that came in separately Friday and then got adopted together Monday.) She will be spayed Friday morning, and we will pick her up Friday afternoon. One dog-sized hole in our home will soon be filled :-D . I suspect you don't have a hole big enough for a tripod malemute cross? http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/dis...petid=13877188 Now, for a name... Suggestions? I ccould do better if I saw her in person. Blond and loves puppies. Reese? FurPaw -- Bill Clodius los the lost and net the pet to email |

I'm one of the most unimaginative people on the planet, so no suggestions. Just congratulations on your addition - I'm so glad that hole will be filled. Well, partially. Mustang Sally |
