I take a relatively simple approach to my pets diet. Basically I won't
give them anything to eat or drink that I wouldn't put in my own mouth.
If I go for a walk or run with my dog I share a water bottle with her,
she doesn't seem to be worried about getting germs off me so it's all
good.
The food I prepare or purchase for them should be nutritious and
something I'm not scared to eat.
Actually it should be nutritious but their digestive systems are made a
lot different than a human one. A dog's digestive system is a lot
shorter with stronger stomach acid and can handle older meat that we
cannot eat.

Char
You just don't put regular gas in a Ferrari Char lol.

You just don't feed a carnivore like a omnivore Steve!

Omnivore? How did peas and carrots get into this thread?
My statement was abut the quality of, not the type of food & water I present
to my pets.
I do find it odd you say that when all the reputable brands of pet food have
recipes with pasta and vegetables in them.

The very best dog and cat foods don't have pasta and veggies in them. I
personally don't include them for any of my dogs and cats. They are just
cheap fillers is all.

Reputable? By who's standards? Certainly not mine.

You dissapoint me Char, you seem to be making this about asserting yourself
or winning an arguement that doesn't exist. I hope that raising your dogs
isn't taken on with the same underlying intent. Judging by the remarks
people have made on your small error in grammar, I think it's safe to assume
you have history of hijacking threads and making them about asserting
yourself over others.
I'll happily decline to argue with you.

Ding ding ding.......... That's exactly correct. Carol Merrill, tell him
what he's won

And when she can't refute what you've said, she will repost your words in
her reply properly attributed to you -BUT- she will alter the wording to fit
her agenda.

She is a fraud, plain and simple.

IOW, you really have no clue about what a dog's nutritional needs are?
Does the short digestive system and teeth for shredding and the very
strong stomach acid not mean anything to you?

Animals that eat veggies are total opposites as far as digestive systems
go. They have teeth for grinding up vegetation, not teeth for ripping
flesh. They have a much slower digestive process, sometimes including
several stomachs that take much more time to make it's way through.

Well, you know what they say about assuming....

They go after me because they can't defend their points of view and they
have a lot of problems tearing holes in my views. Slim pickings but a
grammatical error is the best they can find most times.

This isn't a battle of words, it's an attempt to show reality. If my
statements are for real it means they don't know their asses from a hole
in the ground. Instead of appearing to be wrong they do what they can to
make my words mean less.

I mean, they'd have to admit they have been wrong all along, and if they
had to actually do that their little minds might implode.

Meanwhile, while the word games and flames go on, their dogs are
suffering from the very problems that I've posted about, and not just me
but some others here as well. I'm certainly not the only enlightened one
here, just a more vocal one it seems.

I'll happily decline to argue with you.

Great! I don't like arguing. Debate is great though.

I was thinking the same thing!

Mensa members are not necessarily adept at grammar, punctuation, and
catching typos. Those menial tasks are relegated to those who have nothing
much better to think about.

I'm sorry, but coming from you this is really rich. You
aren't even familiar with nutrition basics - every time
specific questions come up you biff them, often very very
badly.

As if any of them would have a clue about Mensa members....

Yeah, Mensa members are alla time confusing percentages and
absolute numbers. And here we have Paul, living evidence
(er, "proof" DY-NO-MITE!) that nerdy and smart are two
entirely different things.

Got you scared and running Sharon? Of course I just *have* to be wrong
or your whole life is meaningless.

So it just *can't* be you! I mean, how could you live with yourself if
you admitted to hurting the very pets you want to think you are helping?

It's all just so sad....

Most of what I post are in threads started by me and what I post is on
topic for the subject so there is no hijacking except for in your tiny
little head.
