I have 2 dogs one is a puppy & the other an adult, they both have
their own kennel outside but the pup is insistant on hopping into my other dogs kennel which is ok if she doesn't mind sharing but when she is not in the mood for sharing she just lies outside in the cold, she won't use the other kennel as it is not hers. Soon he will be too big to share so I really want him to use his own kennel & stay there as I don't want her sleeping out in the cold. I put the puppys food in his kennel & he goes in has his food & hops back out into her kennel sometimes he will take a nap in his own kennel but that is as far as it goes. Anybody any tips or experience in what to do?? |

Anybody any tips or experience in what to do?? Sure. Put in a dog door. I can practically guarantee you that they'll both stay inside the house most of the time. I have 2 dogs one is a puppy & the other an adult, they both have
their own kennel outside but the pup is insistant on hopping into my other dogs kennel [...] I really want him to use his own kennel & stay there as I don't want her sleeping out in the cold. Dogs are social creatures. Most prefer to be all together, with you given the opportunity, with just each other if necessary, and apart only if kept that way with fences or if not feeling well. While some do, many don't really have a sense of having, needing, and enjoying their own personal private space like so many humans prefer. If you don't want the dogs to join you inside the house, or crowd each other out of single-dog-sized kennels, maybe you could make them one kennel large enough for them both, either from scratch, or by removing a wall from each of the two existing ones and then putting them side- by-side. One of my wife's coworkers at her old job had a handful of Huskies. She made a very elegant "condo" for them, each with their own perfectly sized cubbyhole. She'd invariably find them all sleeping together in a heap on the roof, or if raining, underneath. None of the cubbyholes were ever used, as near as she could tell. --Glenn Lyford |

As I imagine this one is really cute to see when a little puppy dominating the family. This is available on every terms. Seems to me that you should buy same kind of kennel, so that there will be no such scene ...
What do you think ? |
